    Really?

This was a waste of time. I'm glad it was free.

    Hated it

I did not like this short story at all. It did not offer hope and magic. It offered horror and sadness. A story where children, dancing and playing to beautiful music are tricked into their doom is not a happy tale to me. A talented, loving, son and brother, looking for a friend and ceasing to exist because he was lonely is not light hearted. This tale listed 54 pages but was about 28 pages of story. I recommend it to no one of any age group. The story related to the creation of the song, Ring Around the Rosie, was about the holocaust, during WWII. The part saying, ashes, ashes we all fall down, was about the people being burned in the creamotoriums and the ashes from the ovens and chimneys falling down, to cover the streets or countryside. Victims often held hands as they were led to their deaths. Rosie was the brightly burning furnace. I have never cared for this song. To me it indicates the suffering and pain of innocents. Perhaps my intense distaste for the song, affected my feelings for this book. My grandfather was from Germany and he told me about the story behind the song. This short story made me incredibly sad.
