A Favorite of Mine from Childhood!

I will be adding this to my ebook collection and re-reading it soon. I read it when I was a child and have always remembered the story. Remember, it was written in the 60's and reflects the changing times, that women could be anything they wanted. And as far as stealing from Heinlein as another reviewer said, great! I loved all of his books too!

The best book I have ever read

This book consolidates science fiction with reality in a form that will relate with all readers regardless of age, sex, and race. I would love to see a sequel to this book. Incredible! A++++++++++++++++++++++

    An enduring classic

Some books offer glimpses of truth. Some embody wisdom. Rite of Passage does both. This story captures so much of what is really important about growing up, and makes its points without being patronizing or preachy. Best of all, it transcends the tired formulas of "young adult fiction." I loved it once as a great SF story; what a joy to rediscover it as a moving parable on what it means to be human.

    Ridiculous

A very poor attempt to capture the experience of a young woman going through the eponymous Rite of Passage, it takes all the worst lessons from Heinlein's juveniles and then displays an even more leaden ear for language and dialog. Inexplicably overrated by nearly everyone in the sf community, but truly dire.
