    was a little skeptical, but...

i admit when i bought this i was skeptical...i had heard the whole 'rock symphonies' line before and wasn't truly impressed by it...just throwing a bunch of electric guitars into a string orchestra doesn't mean it is going to be good...but i was pleasantly surprised by this CD. the songs, while still being able to hear the rock rhythm, were beautifully mastered into symphonic masterpeices...i found myself listening over and over to some trying to pick out every note and instrument...I especially loved the Guns - N - Roses 'November Rain' symphony...very touching and soulful sounding...almost brought tears to my eyes :) Although was not impressed with the 'vampish' look of the performer (read a bit too much Anne Rice as a kid, i think)...but he can play a great violin.

    My Kind of Classical

I bought my first David Garrett CD at a B&N about a year ago and have been in love with him ever since. He has a unique way of fusing classical music with more modern themes and undertones. That being said, Rock Symphonies only makes me love DG even more. It has more uptempo songs without taking away from any of the Classical music that is known and love. I especially love Vivaldi v. Vertigo and his Tocata. However, his Beethoven's 5th is also amazingly incredible. By the way, have I mentioned that I love this CD?
