This is the second Kylie Jean book that I have read with my daughter. I have to admit, that I am becoming more of a fan of these sweet little books with every page I turn.

I've never been one for hot pink covers because the stories are usually just fluff and rather pointless, but that is not the case with Kylie Jean. In Rodeo Queen, Kylie decides that she wants to compete in the rodeo but she has to learn a new skill in order to do so. Not everything comes easily to her, though. She tries steer roping and bull riding before finally settling on barrel racing. Once she has decided that she can handle the sport, she has to practice constantly for weeks. She learns to work hard and stick with her commitments until the end.

My daughter wants to be a cowgirl when she grows up, and this book appealed to her horse loving side. Kylie develops a special bond with her horse, Star, and learns how to properly care for her. The writing is engaging and the story is sweet, while still delivering a positive message.

The Illustrations: As always, Tuesday Mourning delivers beautiful artwork that enhances the story and provides a delightful visual aid to keep younger readers engaged.

I wish I could buy these books as ebooks. I would have purchased the entire collection by now. But alas, they are only available as paperback.
