    KEEPS YOU COMING BACK

I first heard "No Such Thing" being piped in over the speakers of a fast food joint. I probably was more curious than anything else. But after getting the album I was impressed- commercial-sounding, yes, but flavorful. Is that the result of excellent production by John Alagia as others have suggested? yes, again, but a CD is always the whole musical package, anyway, not just the artist. To illustrate the point, encouraged by what I heard here, I grabbed Mayer's live DVD performance. The experience was so distasteful, I thought I would throw up. He comes off like an unsophisticated little prig, not much better than what you might see at a high school performance, but with a supposedly hipster attitude! The experience was actually enough to make me put the CD away in the closet. But then I heard "My Stupid Mouth" on the radio recently, and it prompted me to hook up the earphones once again. That selection and most of the others (especially "Love Song For No One") are simply infectious. Truth be told, Mayer's crude antics belie a fairly decent songwriter's touch, reminiscent of other influences but still distinct. In a phrase musicians sometimes use for material with deceptively surprising depth: there's something going on here.

    Irregular for Me

My liking towards this album puzzled me on account of the fact that my favorite bands are Nirvana and Pink Floyd, but I really like this CD! My friend (just after forcing me to listen to Avril Lavigne on another one of her "You need happier music!" rants) made me listen to this CD and I absolutely loved it. John Mayer is EXTREMELY talented in the field of music and is awesome on the guitar. I fully recommend it!

    Room for Squares

If you like a Jazzy blues perfect rainy day CD, get John Mayer. He is like a Michael Franks Generation 2! I really love the CD! If you like Michael Franks DEFINATELY get John Mayer!

    John Mayer: Room for Squares

I bought this CD knowing only a small portion of ''No Such Thing''. I listened to the rest of the CD on the way to Vermont because it's a 2hour drive. I absolutely love it. Mayer's rough voice make it worth the money. He does a fabulous job on his first album.

    Mayer does well

Room for Squares is a fantastic album. It is nice to have a singer/songwriter in the mainstream. Songs like Neon show Mayer's unbelievable guitar ability, while Your Body is a Wonderland shows a more sensitive side

    Tasty guitar and interesting lyrics

Heard ''No Such Thing'' on the radio and loved the sound. The rest of the disc is not as popish as ''No Such Thing'', but definitely as interesting. The bonus CD is truly a wonderful bonus. His rendition of ''Wind Cries Mary'' is outstanding.
