I'd give 10 stars if it was an option!!
This was one of the best books I have read in a while. I had a lump in my throat the fist chapter. The characters were so real I felt like I knew them and their feelings were so real to me. There was a little twist at the end that was a bit of a suprise. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!

Very good reading, felt like I was right there.
Growing up with a grandmother who loved her flowers, I could often picture my grandmother in this story as well. The feelings the grandmother are so real, I could cry when she did and stomp my feet with her as well. Deborah Bedford leaves room for the reader to walk along with the characters and totally feel a part of this story. It's another "can't put it down" book that is totally enjoyable reading.

This is the best book I've read, and I've read many
This book does EXACTLY what Mel Gibson's movie, Signs, attempted to do, but did not quite pull off. It addressed issues of disappointment and faith in an entertaining, even surprising way. If you are questioning whether there is a God or not, this book will make you stop and realize that there is someone larger than yourself in charge of your life. Woven into a skillful story that will make you laugh and cry, this story, above all else, will make you hope again. This book is a MUST READ. I am sharing it with all my family and friends.

This is a GOOD book!
I like all Deborah Bedford's books and she's made a change to inspirational with this one. She just keeps getting better and better. This book made me look at God and myself in new ways. Bedford writes setting and character in a lyrical way. You won't want to miss this.

uplifting inspirational story
Not quite eighteen, Nathan left home three weeks before he graduated from college. His mother Bea Bartling of Ash Hollow, Nebraska has constantly; prayed over the next five years that her son will return home so they can reconcile. Her dream ends when the police inform her that Nathan died in an automobile accident.
Bea becomes angry with God for betraying her trust in the All Mighty. She also does not know what to do when Nathan¿s widow Gemma accompanied by her granddaughter Paisley arrives broke and hungry. Bea reluctantly allows them to temporarily stay with her. As time passes, the three generations of females become close even though Bea still refuses to fully open up her heart to her guests. Unless Bea finds a way to tear down her walls, she will lose Gemma and Paisley too.
A ROSE BY THE DOOR is an uplifting inspirational story that shows those individuals with faith in their hearts can surmount any emotional mountain. The poignant story line moves the audience especially when the reader needs a lift. Deborah Bedford displays her talent with this sententious novel that never preaches but clearly inspires.
