Wow! How to summarize the amazing ride you'll be taken on in the Farseer trilogy. First off, don't expect a lightweight ride through the fantasy clichés as with other authors. Hobb treats her main character Fitz like a well-used hammer -- flinging him around and not getting too upset with a few nicks and marks. If you can make it through the first volume in the trilogy, this book picks up where it leaves off and continues the complex and emotional roller-coaster ride. There is so much to enjoy about Hobb's work, especially her wonderful skills as a story-teller. Just expect to endure some pain as a reader as the main character is buffeted and clanged around through the story.

The only criticism I had for these books were the horrible cover art. I really thought they not only looked dumb but really missed the mark when it came to portraying the mood and emotional impact of the stories. They make these books look cheap and cliché which is a big shame for those who, in fact, judge books by their cover.

Highly recommended read! I can't wait to finish Fitz's tale in the next trilogy.

The 2nd book was very slow and boring. The writer has lots of unremarkable stuff that made reading the book extremely difficult. I kept waiting for the action, but the book has very little. If you like confusing plots, weak main characters, and scenery descriptions you will like this book. I like action, adventure, and hidden twists in my science fiction books. Good thing I didn't let this book determine if I would read the 3rd book.

    Wonderful Writing!

Every time I picked up this book, I was transported to another world entirely! The characters were so real and vivid that I feel personally invested in their successes and failures. I haven't been so absorbed into a book in ages! I will definitely be reading her other works, but for now I can't wait to see how this series ends! If you enjoyed Robin Hobb as much as I did, you might also like "Thief's Gamble" by Juliet E. McKenna, and "Magician: Apprentice" by Raymond E. Feist!

A boy and his dog, part #2

I must start by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed book two, a bit more than one, though that was a 4 star book. I would have liked to see more expansion on the magic elements of the story, and suspect that is to come in book 3. But having said that, Fits has grown into an amazing and durable character. Challenged by faith, stamina, and character in ways we can not imagine enduring ourselves. Prince Regal goes to extreme lengths to grasp and claw for power, even to gain the throne. Night Eyes the wolf has a jaw dropping surprise to aid Fitz. All the multilayerd characters develop nicely into believable people you care about. Robin Hobb has it right, this trilogy will become a permanent part of my library to be enjoyed over and over.

    Amazing Again!

Robin Hobb has an original and amazing way to draw you into the Farseer series. This is one of those books that you truly fight yourself over trying not to read thru the book in one sitting. Deeper and faster paced then the first book although just as rich and intriguing. I don't understand why other readers have not discovered this amazing author!

and i thought the first was good

This book is an excellent read. I greatly enjoyed the first book, but this book is way better. They can just jump right into the story because they have character and setting established already. I wish more people would read these books. It makes me sad to think that only one other person wrote a review for this book. Please read it and write a review.
