I enjoyed reading this book, but it was not as fresh or original as the first one. I have always appreciated Orson Scott Card's creativity and strategic thinking in his writing, and the time travel component is intriguing. However, Ruins felt a little misdirected and confusing-- sometimes getting muddled in emotional conflicts, sometimes doubling back over and over in a noxious spin of time travel entanglements. Pathfinder had more strength and clarity. While I still liked reading Ruins, I would have liked it to be a little less like a sequel and more of a powerful continuation of an already remarkable story.

    Read it before....

Card referencws a disease that bittlenecks genetic growth. Though it is brief i am reminded of "Speaker For The Dead" all the same. But it is still good.

My favorite author by an enormous margin. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I've already read the Ender series, Alvin series, Lost Gate, and this series. Phenomenal. Must enjoy fantasy combined with heavy philosophy and science.

You find yourself in the ruins of a city somewhere in mexico. You may use all the res up to res 12. Every res is a location and if caught in two locations at once then you will be disquallified. the name of the location will be given at the bottom of each res. Let the games begin
