'Runaway' is a great end to this edgy trilogy!

As Meg Cabot's newest release "Runaway," opens, we see that Em Watts is hiding, from the paparazzi, from her family, from her friends, and even from her own life. Forced into an unhappy partnership with her non-boyfriend (who just happens to be the power hungry son of her evil employer), Em is at her breaking point. Now she's just waiting her time out, but the waiting is taking to look. She is, in fact, waiting for the live Stark Angel fashion show and for the real Nikki to stand up and reveal what she found out about Stark Enterprises, as well as what led to this whole predicament. Her dilemma is that she is stuck between the desire to protect those she cares about and the determination to expose Stark's wrongdoings. Em will have to decide if she can take a stand, or if she's better off running away from it all.

"Runaway," third in the Airhead series, was preceded by "Airhead" and "Being Nikki" and closes this trilogy off nicely. The storyline was fascinating and Cabot still managed to surprise her readers with tidbits. I don't like to reveal anything substantial about the book, its progression, or its ending, but this one does end happily ever after. Em's character goes through quite a bit and with this last book of the trilogy, readers will applaud her ability to hang in there. Also, a big driver of this book was the background discussion about business ethics, identity theft, and even reclaiming a new identity. It's the gift that Christopher gives to Em at the end that is so thoughtful and touching, and it reminds readers that we are who we are, not matter what crosses our path in life.Show Less

A good read for those seeking mindless entertainment

I would recommend this book if you have already invested time in the previous two books in the series. Runaway ties up many of the loose ends in the series, but I found that it did so in an unrealistic and disappointingly non-action-packed manner. There was too much insight into the main character's thoughts (which were horribly repetitive) and not enough excitement. If you are one of those people, like myself, however, who continue reading a mediocre series solely to learn how it ends, then I advise you to read this book. It was a decent read for entertainment purposes in that it went quickly and I didn't have to invest much thought into the story.Show Less

    I Also Recommend:

    I really underestimated this series!

    When I first saw these books I was curious. I mean I had read The Mediator and 1-800-Where-R-You and absolutely loved it but this was about a MODEL for pete's sake. I mean, I loved Meg Cabot and all but I Really wasn't sure that she could pull off a book about a model that I would get into. However I did buy Airhead (the first book in the series) on my nook since it wasn't that expensive and I really was curious. So I started reading it and oh my gosh! IT was so amazing! It might, just MIGHT have moved past The Mediator series on my favorites list (which is a HUGE deal)! Seriously I think this author could pull off anything! I loved loved LOVED Christopher and Em! The plot was so complex and cool, I never guessed Stark's secret, that option just never crossed my mind! I admit before I read the series I had snooped around on reviews hoping someone would mention what the secret was so I could guesstimate how much it sounded like something I'd like, but now I'm glad they didn't. It so would have messed up the surprise! No, you need the suspense! Trust me.
    I think everyone should read these books, it works for tomboys like me because Em really is a lot like us non-fashionable teens, but it would also appear to fashion lovers and girly girls because of all the references to fashion and the modeling world. And let's just face it, any girl (read: EVERY girl) is going to love Christopher! Oh my gosh, he is so hot and sweet! I love the best-friend-turned-love-interest guys and Christopher totally fit the bill! And the end! Oh the end! I don't think there has ever been a better end to a better series (except perhaps in Meg Cabot's other books...) It was one of those awesome endings where no one was left single or sad, everyone ended up with who was perfect for them and everyone (who deserved someone) ended up with someone! It was so perfect I was grinning like an idiot and talked the ear off my mom and sister for a few hours that night as I had my major fan girl moment. I love the escape literature offers, and books like this are the whole reason I read so much. The joy I get from finding a book series that I can delve into so whole heartedly without having to worry about anything inappropriate or shocking and knowing that I was going to fall in love with the characters and their world...well it's just something that's amazing. And Meg Cabot has truly captured the essence of great story telling. Thank you Mrs. Cabot for writing such wonderful stories that girls all over the world can love and connect too! You have a true gift.

    Wonderful =D

    I loved this book. cant believe it was the last one but im glad Cabot ended it so well tying it all up very nicely. The question we have all been wondering about, what is Stark hiding finally gets answered. The answer will scare you especially if your young, pretty, healthy and a traveler, not saying anymore than that i hate spoilers..lol but i have a feeling if your a facebook addict you wont be after you read this =P One thing i enjoyed a lot when reading this book is the relationship between Em and Christopher its so easy to relate to it, this book makes you feel like your in Em shoes and i love the ending how everyone basically lives happily ever after except Robert Stark :). If you haven't read this book you should it's a must read. Hope you enjoy it =D

    Another Fantastic Series from Meg Cabot

    I, like other readers, was dubious to begin this series because it is about a model. However, it only took the first few sentences of Airhead for me to realize that this series is not about a model at all! It is about Em Watts, a lovable, dorky girl who is forced into a situation and life she wants no part of. My favorite dynamic of this series is Em's relationship with "supervillian" Christopher, who sets out to avenge Em's death though she is really still alive.
    I also enjoyed the fact that Em isn't perfect. She has "trust issues" and feels like she has to handle everything on her own, and she doesn't realize this until Christopher calls her out in Runaway.
    Overall, Airhead is a fantastic, interesting series that combines science-fiction with romance in an unpredictable, fun way. I would certainly reccomend this series to anyone who wants more than the shallow plots which many teen books only offer.
