Like any one of Richard Overy's works, this book gives incredible analysis and insight into the inner workings of the Soviet military machine on the eve of war, as well as during the war and a little bit afterwards. Overy adeptly captures the times in which the Soviets were fighting - against a ferocious enemy in defense of a homeland led by a ferocious dictator. Would suggest starting with "Why the Allies Won" - and would also suggest the publishers put said work in ereader format as well!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
