    SRV Guitar God worshipper

While 'Pride and Joy' was still being spun on the radio, I attended a Steve Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble concert at a small venue in Corpus Christi, Texas. I had no idea he was a R&B guitar genius. He was phenomenal, fantastic, unbelievably talented. His performance ruined me for lesser mortals. I listened and watched like a slack-jawed idiot. Who could believe that one man could be so incredibly talented? Nobody else has come close to recreating the magic that emanated from him. And while some artists are known by one name, he is recognized all over the world by his initials - SRV. While my favorites are his first two recordings, Texas Flood and Couldn't Stand the Weather, I own and love all his recordings. He's a classic artist who will forever be an inspiration.

    He left too soon.

If SRV could channel, then GOD was on his shoulder.

If I Were Stuck on A Deserted Island...

...Yeah, I'd want this set with me. The list of fiery Texas guitar slingers is lengthy and filled with some great names: Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, Freddie King, Johnny Copeland. But none of them compare to SRV. He was just so special when it came to the music he made. I won't go so far to say that he was the most talented musician ever, but he certainly ranks near the top. When you take into account his love of music and the passion with which he played and sang...Well, that might put him over the top. And this collection showcases Stevie from his early days--"Thunderbird" and "Guitar Hurricane"--to his last recorded performance--"Let Me Love You Baby" and "Leave My Girl Alone"--and everything in between. One of the great things about this set is that you can listen to it and hear how he matured and evolved as a guitarist and vocalist. The set features rare and unreleased material, as well as the masterpieces which we all know and love. And the DVD is great because it SHOWS the kind of passion with which SRV played. You can see that he truly loved to play guitar and that making music was not only about pleasing and entertaining his audience, but served as a means of expression and release for this great artist. This collection is a must for anyone who is a blues fan. Or a rock fan. Or a fan of good music in general. If you have to sell blood or body parts to buy this collection, it's worth it. Yeah, it's that good.

    Awesome talent, amazing collection

For anyone who has ever tried to play the guitar, this collection is a testament to the perfection that may be achieved by a very select few.

    WOW

If there was ever a mortal God, Stevie Ray was it. He was so phenomenal! The 4th disc, a DVD, has unbelievable performances on it, not only by Stevie Ray, but by Double Trouble, as well. All I can say is that God is one happy camper, having Stevie with Him.

Stevie Ray is the best there was and the best there will ever be!!

Anything released new or old from SRV is worth any amount of money. SRV was the greatest musician with talent equal to the Beatles or Mozart. Anyone fortunate enough to have experienced his music live was truly blessed. Of all the live concerts I have attended he was not only real but wonderful. His music sounded as wonderful live and true to the note as if it came from his recordings. The day he passed was one of saddest days of my life. My friends and I mourned his death at least as much as I mourned the death of JFK. Even though we never had an opportunity to meet him we all wept as if we had lost our best friend. SRV left a lasting mark never to be forgotten in music whether it be blues or rock. I can't believe it has already been 10 years since he left us. However his music is as real as it ever was. I never tire of listening to it again and again. And when I do after a few weeks away from it, I am amazed how fantastic it still sounds. Anyone who hasn't been fortuneate enough to have heard his music has truly missed an outstanding musical talent. Any musical package available with SRV as a part of it is a must to have.
