    AMAZING!!!

This is a truly entertaining and highly recommended book. It isn't often a writer can write a book to equal his first. Highly addictive because you can't just read one. Can't wait for the next book from John Everson. He is making a name for himself in the horror genre. Be sure to pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.

    Sex and Violence

LOL... now that I got your attention. Yes this book DOES contain sex and violence, but also far more. John Everson has created a magick and mythology and seamlessly woven it into the world. This story takes off running and you're right along for the ride. I seldom read a series out of order and I was hesitant to start Sacrifice without reading Covenant. But Everson effortlessly works in the details of the previous volume so that the new reader is not left alone in the back.

The book revolves around an ex- investigative journalist, a bound demon, and a girl who can speak to and manipulate ghosts chasing after a ritualistic killer, who is creating a chain of sacrifices across the US in the hopes of freeing her demon masters. Some of you might be thinking that's a pretty standard plot. But where John excels is in his fully dynamic characters; each of the players in this story is also undergoing their own quest for self-realization and growth. Even our antagonist has layers and depth as she goes about her mission. There is a LOT of depth to the whole story... and yeah it does have sex and violence and some gore.

The book has a great pace and if it wasn't for the intrusion of real life on my reading i would have finished the book in two sittings. I'm grabbing a copy of Covenant today and can't wait for John's next book, The 13th, (which will be out in Oct.)

    Dive deep into the Curburide!

When I read John Everson's first book COVENENT, I thought the story was so well written that it had several back-stories that were incredibly intriguing. Who or what are these Curburide? If they nearly rampaged the earth before, could they come back? The answer - SACRIFICE!

Where COVENENT excelled in suspense, SACRIFICE excelled in everything! This book had wonderfully developed characters. Two unlikely teams racing to the end! Joe; a reluctant participant and Alex; a budding witch fresh from her own nightmare of events, thrown together by Malachi, a demon with questionable loyalty. Then there's Ariana; a power-hungry, sex-crazed murderess with a surprisingly "bright" past, and Jeremy; a feed-up "everyday-joe" ready to give in to the evil!

Even though this book follows COVENENT, it is a great stand-alone read. Reading COVENENT first will surely enhance the chills that Malachi brings throughout the story, but SACRIFICE can absolutely hold it's own as well!

An action-packed, gore-infused, chill-inducing, evil-motivated, character-driven, sex-crazed thrill ride! Cover to cover, one of the BEST horror novels I have ever read.

I cannot wait for Everson's next novel THE 13TH coming out around -of course- October!
