excitement in a hot air balloon

Have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon? If not, would you like to do so? Sally is a black Labrador retriever. Her family is taking her to a balloon festival as a special treat. Sally knows what party balloons are, but she has never seen a hot air balloon before. Sally smells some fried chicken. She follows her nose to a balloon and finds that someone has placed the chicken in a balloon gondola. When she climbs the stairs to investigate, she falls in. Then she grabs a rope to pull herself out, and the balloon lifts off! Suddenly all the people on the ground look like little dots. Will Sally ever get back down? And will she get to eat the chicken?
Author Stephen Huneck, an internationally acclaimed painter, sculptor, and printmaker, first introduced Sally in the 2000 book Sally Goes to the Beach, which became a New York Times bestseller. Five more books followed: Sally Goes to the Mountains (2001), Sally Goes to the Farm (2002), Sally Goes to the Vet (2004), Sally's Snow Adventure (2006), and Sally Gets a Job (2008). Sally's Great Balloon Adventure is the seventh and final Sally book due to Huneck's tragic and untimely death in 2010. After suffering a fall in the mid-1990s, Huneck had developed acute respiratory distress syndrome and nearly died. Following this, he built The Dog Chapel near his gallery on Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, VT. His woodcut prints of Sally and her adventure are marvelously gorgeous. This is a great book that children will dearly love.
