    Not a Worthy Read

Totally disjointed-the book skips around with no rhyme or reason. The only way to follow it would be be to spend the afternoon in Margaritaville-unfortunately, then you'd forget what you had learned after you sobered up.

Should Reason with the Hurricane Season

As a long-time Parrothead and an avid reader of Buffett's earlier works (Tales from Margaritaville and Where is Joe Merchant), I was looking forward to this book. Alas, it suffers the same fate as his previous book (A Pirate Looks at 50), endless rambling that does nothing to advance the plot. In the opening chapter, we find our hero Tully Mars investigating the light house he's been hired to restore. In the second chapter, we jump back in time. 246 pages later, we no closer to catching up with the opening chapter than what little was apparently deleted from this wandering, meandering, stream of consciousness creation. I couldn't force myself to finish Pirate, I'll not finish this book either. Buffett is a master songwriter, no question. As far as his recent novels go, the man definitely needs an editor to focus, streamline, and bring cohesion to a reckless maelstrom of imagery.

    WORST BOOK I'VE EVER READ

I LOVE Jimmy Buffet but he should stick to entertaining the public with his singing and quit thinking he's an author. It took me a week to get through this book when it should've taken me a few days. I almost said 'forget it' many times but I wanted to complete it. The best part was the last 20 pages of the book. Sorry, Jimmy.

Where is an editor when you need one?

Just about the worst book I every read - I thought Buffet showed writing promise in his previous attempts (Joe Merchent/A Pirate Looks at 50 etc) but most of this was horrible. If JB was not so rich and famous a good editor would have cut this to about 200 pages and JB might have had a decent book.

    I'm a big Parrot Head...

But this book I hate to admit, is not what I would have expected from the great Jimmy Buffet. I found it difficult to follow and the many times when the story should have ended....just goes on and on. I fail to see what the others are raving about. Sorry Jimmy.....

    Stinkburger in Paradise

I bought this book at an airport while on my way to a sunny vacation thinking it would put me in the right frame of mind. But there are not enough marquaritas in all of Key West to make me forget what a loosy writer Jimmy Buffet is. Even the most diehard parrot-head would have trouble squawking about this book. Perhaps if it was set to music and soaked in tequilla it would have been a little easier to swallow.
