Giving up- boring & has racist under tones
Im almost 200 pages in and still havent gotten a feel for any of the characters. This book is slooooow moving and only the second Ive ever put down begore finishing. The most prevalent theme in this book is the constant negative attitude toward Mexicans. Found the constant racist commentary VERY off-putting and frustrating. Writing that illegal immegrants are the cause for increased drug usuage is ignorant & paints a false picture. Increased drug prescence is the result of cartels & drug mules. Immigrants are often average, sober people looking to escape the danger in MX for a better life. Not saying illegal immegration is ok, but they arent responsible for the cartels! Its also stated in the book that when Mexican characters in the book look away from the main character, he assumes them to be illegals. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I dont feel this author is simply trying to paint a picture of modern day Texas. Instead I felt this was the authors personal opinion & prejudice coloring the book.
Will NOT be finishing this boring, poorly written book!
