Once again, Ms. Roberts has written a tightly researched(re recreation of the funeral Mass and priest's roles were spot on(I was educated in Catholic school from K-12 grades), thrilling, joyride of a mystery. Eve is definitely at the top of her game, and I cannot WAIT to read about Louise's bachelorette party/wedding shower, and the wedding of all weddings. It bummed me that Nadine and Mavis were merely cameos this time, but I still eagerly await the next title, and her adventures in a very realistic New York City 50+ years from now.Show Less

I liked the idea of Morris with a love interest, but very little of the supporting characters was mentioned. I love Peabody and McNab's relationship, Nadine's friendship, Mavis' colorfulness, Sommerset's snarkiness, but quiet concern and all the others. I especially love her relationship with Roarke. I felt like this story was all murder case with none of the extras that affect Eve. The second murder in this story didn't seem necessary. I'm still excited about the next book, but hope it's not all case and a lot more of the outside influences.Show Less

    Good but not Robb's Best

This book just was not up to J. D. Robb's usual standard. If you had taken out the second murder it would have been one of her short stories. The edge of your seat, nail bitting, goosebump thrill just was not there. The interaction between Eve and Roarke and She-body and McNabb was good, I always get a good laugh out of one of the scenes and Robb delivered on that. But as for as the other members of the In Death family it didn't shine. Nora is a great writer, I have read just about everything she has published but the In Death is my favorite of them all. I think she is spread to thin, that she needs to put more of her time and attention in the In Death books.

    A good read

I love this series. It's smart, funny, romantic, exciting and the characters are enjoyable. The newest book is no exception. New readers will be able to follow along and regulars will enjoy the next chapter in the series.

the book was good, but follows the same pattern for Robb.

I have always been a Nora whether she writes as Robb or Roberts...I originally found Eve when there were no other books of Nora's to read. I like the way Eve and Roarke are together and how well they function as a team, but this book seemed like it was written on auto-pilot and I found myself at times bored with it and it took me longer than it usually does to read it (I usually finish a book in 2 days and this read took me a week). As I said it was a good book, but it was not her best.

    I Also Recommend:

Though the writing style is choppier than other "In Death" books this is still a keeper for JD Robb fans.

As an avid fan and holder all all books that JD Robb has written or been a contributing writer, I highly recommend "Salvation in Death" as a must read for the mystery, the twists, and the filling out of the characters of Peabody and McNab. The down side to this book is that the wording was choppy and computer-like instead of the flowing and merging that is a norm for these books. The choppy style seemed to cover a lack of description for the surroundings that were being described and made a couple of conversations with Eve seem robotic with the repetitious one word sentences. Over all this was another great book. There was the enhancement of the characters, funny parts, sad parts, and the thought provoking segments that can make one sit back and think. Well done!

Salvation in Death by J.D. Robb

Holy moly. I'm not sure how J.D. Robb continues to write such consistently fabulous stories about Eve and Roarke, but she's done it again with "Salvation in Death".

This time the victim is a Priest! And he was killed via the sacrament during a funeral mass. Into this holy mess (HAHA) steps Eve the cop. Musing her way through a mass (!) of subjects while trying not to step on too many toes ("I never genuflect in public.") Eve soon discovers the dead priest was not really a priest. The threads for this murder wind all the way back to the gang wars of the early 2040s. But between a copycat killer and more questions than answers the further back she goes, Eve and Peabody definitely have their work cut out for them.

I love Eve. I want to go drinking with Eve and discuss life. I'd also love to have Roarke, just once...but Eve could kick my ass with one hand behind her back! Robb also provides us with a deeper look into the lines of right and wrong and black and white. Eve, Roarke, Peabody, and McNab will all get a chance to define their views and feelings. If you want more info, go pick up your own copy. Mine's already on my keeper shelf!

    Lord have mercy!

Sometimes Nora Roberts/JD Robb books serve as food for me I swear! This woman is more addicting than chocolate. LOL They should have had an option in the ratings that her books could serve as a way to diet; I get a hold of one of those morsels and I cannot put it down! I started reading her stuff a few years ago; she came recommended by a friend. Every cotton picking time I pick up one of her books....well.....it's a good thing I live alone because no one would eat till I was finished with the book LOL.

I really really enjoy the trilogies, oh my lord, those Irish types...are just awesome! The single books are fabulous, but hey, I gotta get real, NOTHING beats those Eve and Sexy man books. I agree with one of the other posters, it would take one HECK of a man to add up to what I have in my little nutty imagination about what Roarke looks like. Oooo la la baby! And when i get to a funny part of the book (which there are several) I don't even CARE who is around me when I start giggling to myself. If they ask what I am reading, I PROUDLY tell them "A Nora Roberts Book" Don't you wish you had one?? hmm?? "Well too bad this one is mine gitcher own". LOL

The Nora Roberts/JD Robb books are the perfect way to end ANY day, BEGIN any day, or snatch a few hours away from reality day. I do all of the above whenever possible. I am a HUGE fan, I will never STOP being a HUGE fan. Nora Roberts never disappoints with her talent.

I wish I would have just discovered who she is, then, I would have all those books to read for the very first time. Everything I have ever wanted in a writer, SHE HAS! The character Eve; her humor is so freaking hilarious. I wanna be Eve when I grow up, it's too bad I'm 43, I'd sure give it a try.

IF Nora Roberts ever stops writing, I will curl up and just croak. I'll be like the wicked with of the west when she had the bucket of water dumped on her, I shall wither into nothing (and then PRAY I come back as Eve for Roarke to have his way with LOL!!!

Ahhh yes, Nora Roberts, you are indeed a wonderful and talented lady. I wish you nothing but the very best of everything that life has to offer, peace of mind, health to keep you strong, and faith to see you through every bump in the road that you may come to. Thank you so much for bringing your world into mine.

Love Nora Roberts as J. D. Robb

I can only echo what the other reviewers have said. I am hooked on Eve and Rourke and wait anxiously for each new book! I can hardly wait to open the box to start reading each new book. I will be anxiously awaiting the receipt of this newest one!

    I've been waiting

I was hooked on Dallas and Roarke from the first 'in Death' novel by J.D. Robb. I started reading the series several years ago and read them all in order. I was so disappointed when I caught up and I had to start waiting for the next one. It seems so long between publications.

JD Robb is my favorite author!

It may be repetitive but I look forward to every new book in the series. I think I'm in love with Roarke! While I wait I reread the others in anticiptation. I feel like their part of my family. Nora Roberts is very gifted and talented... I hope the series never ends!

    Always wanting more

I hate having to wait for each new book to come out as I usually finish them the day after I get them. I just can't put it down. Introduced her to my mom who has also come to love these books.

    Always waiting and rereading

It is always way too long between books from Roberts, under either name. Can't wait for the new In Death or the 3rd book of her current trilogy, which comes out in December. She's the top of the list best ever author.

    waiting, waiting, waiting

starting with her first book of this series, Eve and the others are like good friends. More of her humor and the full development of the characters is a delight. The only wish I have, is that Nora would write a bit faster lol.A great fan

    Can't Wait to Read This!

Anytime J. D. Robb has a book out I just have to run out and buy it. I have read and re-read this series tons of times and everytime it gets better. These mysteries are gritty and complex, while still focusing on relationships and the emotional rollercoaster that each character goes through. This is a great read!
