    Good outline, but disappointing

I am a novice developer and was looking for a good book to walk me through the basic steps of building a site with Drupal. The table of contents looked like a good outline for learning Drupal. However, I was disappointed when I sat down and started working through the lessons. The author seems to be quite knowledgeable about Drupal, however the instructions in the lessons are incomplete and at times skip over some steps (perhaps more experienced users would take them for granted). The screen shots are very difficult to see; they are blurry and faded.

There are also quite a few typographical errors that give me the impression that this book was rushed to print. I think I'll try to find some good online materials before I purchase another book.

Content OK but the printing is miserable

The idea of breaking the subject into 24 mini-lessons is a good one. The author seems to have rushed to get the version 7 information into the book which can be confusing at times. However, it's no worse than most other books out there. What kills this book is the typography and the printing. I measured the letter height and it's 20% smaller than O'Reilly books (font-size:80%). This makes the stokes very thin and the overall effort to read the book VERY hard.Worse, the screen shots are printed in dull gray on pale gray. And, they are smaller than normal. You have to concentrate so hard to see what they are saying that you lose your place in the text. Since the print is so small and congested you have to hunt for it and start to lose the point the illustration was supposed to make. It's a very difficult book to read!I would have returned the book but I had a deadline so I made do. I suggest you look for something else until they reprint this.
