Easy to do

I didn't know how to put a memory card into my nook. I stumbled upon the solution. It's a matter of taking the back of the nook off. There's a video that shows you how to do this on the website. who knew that?

You can buy the exact same thing PLUS the SD adapter at Walmart for $9.99. Talk about price hiking. I would encourage you to look at larger micro SC cards. Not sure whether or not you can load anything off the MicroSD card onto your computer. If you computer can read documents from a FAT32 or FAT16 formatted disc then it should only be a matter of digital rights restrictions. Although, I would assume after purchasing the download, you should own such digital rights to that literature. Apparently, the manual says you can put all the way up to a 16GB microSD or microSDHC card in your NOOK. That's awesome! It gives an estimate of 100ebooks for every 1 GB. So your device should be able to hold up to about 1600 ebooks or periodicals with a 16GB (dependent on how many pictures and whatnot are in the literature) card. Say hello to saving trees!!
On a separate note. I'm not sure why those of you say there is no instructions on how to insert the microsd card. There's instructions on page 154, 155, 156, and 28 of the manual. I don't even own one yet and I'm looking at the manual. I don't understand why someone would buy this thing if they don't like to read.
When you go out and buy the MicroSD card....look for a "class 6" microSDHC card. It will make the turning of pages much faster.Show Less

    Confusing

This might be a good purchase if I could figure out how to install it. Not for the technologically challenged.

    do not buy

The instructions on how to install do not exist - could not figure it out, and no help in manual or online. Maybe try smashing the nook with a blunt object?

    love it

I love the extra memory but I rlixed that I could of bought it a store near me than on-line. I read a lot of books I would like all of them on my nook so this is the best thing for it.

works but instructions would be nice

The first thing you need to to is to remove the back cover. Locate the bottom little tab next to the micro usb port. pull towards you on that while at the same time prying off the cover with your fingernails. It does not come off very easily. Once opened, the little slot for the car is in there--open the tiny metal door and insert the card. Next you need to shut down your nook and reboot in order for it to recognize your extra memory. It isn't hard to do and is worth the price, but truly-some sort of instruction would be nice.

    How to insert memory card.

I noticed a lot of people had the same question I had as to how to insert your memory card so I asked on Barnes and Nobel chat and was given a link that has a video on how to remove the back on your Nook so that you can insert your memory card. At the bottom of my Nook where I plug it in to charge. I had to stick the tip of my finger nail in and pull slowly to pop the back off to reveal the battery and the slot where my memory card goes. I hope this will make it easier on all Nook readers trying to add memory ...good luck and happy reading.**p.s. I would have given the direct link but it would not let me :(

    Easy 2 do.

Really folks! If you can change a light bulb putting a memory chip in a Nook isn't any more difficult. The B & N site has ample instructions on how. Additional instructions are available from Nook owners blog sites.
Save some money and Google 8 GB SDHC cards. Either the Class 4 or Class 6 cards should be fast enough for the average reader. The price for an 8 GB Kingston or Sandisk card is much less than B & N. Remember their all made in China anyway so the brand name is superfluous. Major install advice: COMPLETELY power off your Nook before installation. Don't just "put it to sleep". If you haunt the free EPUB book sites as I do you'll be glad you up-graded your memory.
