    Nice Change

I love to cook from scratch, love the chopping and all that goes with it. But I also appreciate what Sandra Lee does with her cookbooks. Cooking can be expensive and time consuming. I enjoy trying out her recipes and have found most of what I have made so far to be good and worth the money. I have 4 of her cookbooks and love the way every recipe has a picture. They are easy to follow with minimal ingredience. Give them a try. You'll never like every recipe of any book you get. But she has some great worth while ones.

    Great book.........

This is a great book. Anyone writting that they're upset that nothing is made by scratch is also a person who buys an atlas and says 'what's with all these lines?'. That's the point of the book. Get a dictionary and look up the work 'semi'. I love this book.

    My family is raving!!!

For those of you who enjoy searching all over town for ingredients in the annoying Martha Stewart recipes or if you take pride in spending all day in the kitchen cooking--THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU!!! For the rest of us...like me...this book is fabulous. Like any recipe book there is a few that I will make over and over and a few I will pass on. Great wedding gift.

Some of you are missing the point

Sandra Lee's approach is to use pre-made items and stuff already made so you don't spend tons of time in the kitchen. The meals are easy to use and don't take a lot of time. I have gotten rave reviews on all of the recipes I have tried out of all three of her cookbooks. She's a lot more down to earth and a whole lot less irritating than Rachel Ray. Also for those of you that keep critizing the fact that she had name brands, I think you failed to read some of the introduction. She mentions the brands because those are the ones she thinks taste best, not because you have to use them. And you can substitute lower calorie options and the recipes are still great. I love the cookbooks and her shows.

    Hence 'Semi' Homemade

The whole point of these recipes is to be 'semi'homemade, not made from scratch. So, yes the ingredients include canned and prepackaged food. It's all about short cuts for busy lifestyles. Sandra Lee has a lot of great ideas and the recipes are very good. I recommend this cookbook for people who don't have time to spend hours in the kitchen and need to prepare quick, easy meals that taste good and would normally take longer to make.
