Backstory: On the eve of her wedding, 10 years ago, Nell Anslowe suffers a fall over a cliff and fortuitously lands on a ledge. Nevertheless, her groom begs off.
After regaining consciousness (hours/days) she has memory loss of how it happened and is left with a limp and recurring terrifying nightmares of butchery killings. Still unmarried when the novel takes up the story, the wealthy Nell is kidnapped during a storm by a scoundrel she won't marry, but who is in dire need of money. Feisty Nell manages to escape. Coincidentally Julian, Earl of Wyndham - and enemy of the kidnapper - loses his horse during the storm. Both of them wind up in the same shelter; she is compromised and Julian asks for her hand. These mildly interesting central characters marry and fall in love. But Nell's dreams become progressively graphic, real, and bestial, and she is determined to track down the murderer. The villain who is somehow psychically connected to Nell, manages to escape at the end. Does this mean we can expect a sequel?
