I received this ARC Copy from NetGalley to give an honest review.

I was actually very impressed with this book, it had murder, mystery and a good story line.

But there was a last an issue or two that I had a problem with.

Will Frost is a normal business man and before his daughter comes to visit him and his wife he gets a call asking him if he has googled himself. At that moment everything is a fight to save someone close to him he has to travel around to different places for a certain reason. While doing all this he has no clue as to why this is happening to him or his wife. Though everything becomes clear at the end it is like wow!

The first murder the killer does in this book freaked me out a bit, as it had me looking over my shoulder in a way lol. After that each murder was just like oh wow this killer has an imagination.

Over all the mystery, the murders, the way Will and his wife handle things was all really great! The conditions that the kidnapped victim had to go through was just so surreal! I honestly could see something like that really happening.

Now on to what I had issues with.

1. There is a little boy named Tam I believe he is six years old in the book ( I would have to go back and actually find out) but he is smoking a cigarette. Now I had to go back to re-read this twice because when it says he is smoking and he throws it down it does not give you an age. But then it says he heard a scream, and he doesn't tell his father! Because who would believe a six-year-old? Now I have say I was very thrown off by this because what six year old is smoking a cigarette. I have a six year old and I honestly could not see him smoking.

2. Now who was this Skinny Man? It seemed as though as soon as Will found his daughter you didn't get anymore information on who actually kidnapped her besides the killer. And what about Luke? There seemed be no more information on him. At the very end Will wanted some information and that is where the cliff hanger happened.

I just hope there is a second book as I would have really liked to have known what really happened to Luke. Was he behind any of this? Did he actually die? What was the information that Will was trying to get?

If you are looking for a good murder, mystery than this is the book for you.

Meh

It was ok. Graphic violence, some adult situations but nothing worse than you'd get from Law and Order or Criminal Minds. Got a bit dull and repetitive at times but overall not a bad read. About 330 pages long.

    Oh...... Wow....

    MURDER EVERYWHERE!
This is a very good book, albeit a few graphic murders. Great read for more mature audiences.

Parker knows the meaning of the word "thriller". He doesn't waste words with elaborate descriptions of attire, food consumption or locations. He sets the stage and gives respect to the reader's imagination to fill in the blanks. The same is true with his plot.
In reply to Autumn's questions, Tam indeed was a six year old boy living in a very impoverished seedy world but with an exceedingly precocious mind. His reasoning was far above his age as was his courage. He was also dangerously curious. The Skinny Man was apparently just some local hired to watch over the girl and had no other real purpose. Luke, of course, was the man with one eyebrow that Tam described and locked in the cooler. According to editor reviews, this book is a stand alone so possibly no sequel but, to me, that's the intrigue. For everyone who reads it, the answers could be different; and I'm sure the ending will be as varied as those that conceive one. Parker didn't tie this one up with a bow and spoon feed his audience an ending, be it happy or otherwise. He relied on his readers' intelligence and imagination to do that for themselves. What more can you ask from such a thoughtful master of thrills?

    Fast paced and exciting

Very good fast paced read. Wish I knew what happened to Tam and if Luke was involved with the kidnapping...not sure why Tam was part of the story? But would read this author again for sure.

    Great reading

I had a hard time getting anything done. This book was a surprise----not the usual mystery that seems to be the norm. If you like murder mysteries, you will enjoy this book

    READ THIS

My first introduction to Richard Jay Parker was with Stop Me. I thought this was a good read. Scare Me, has surpassed Stop Me. Once again Mr. Parker has taken that which has become so much a part of our world and made it a very unnerving place. Who googles themselves and finds that they have become part of a serial killers revenge filled game. None of us I would hope.

From the beginning until the final ending you will wonder what the connection is, when you get that answer you will hopefully think “Wow did not see that one coming”. As a reader you will see the ruthlessness of the news people chasing a story and be amazed at the courage of a small child.

You need to read this, you will not be disappointed in anyway. So once more I say thank you for sharing your wonderful imagination. Till the next book, I will be waiting.
