This is an exceptional book! Adults and children alike will be captivated by this inspiring historical tale.
The illustrations are very artistic and simply gorgeous, something that is rare to find in many picture books today! These pictures add a high quality dimension to the book. The story reminds us of the sacrifices and patriotic spirit of our forefathers when America was a young nation during the Revolutionary War.
One part of the story nearly brought tears to my eyes. It keeps you turning the pages to find out what will happen next. If you want to teach your children history, this is one of the best ways to do it! Would make a great birthday gift for young boys and girls too.
Age range of the book is 4-10, but I would say 4-adult! This book is part of a whole series of other historical picture books for children "Tales of Young Americans".

Excellent historical fiction for read-aloud.
I used this book as a read aloud in my 5th Grade classroom. They were also learning about the Revolutionary War in Social Studies so this corrolated well. The story line kept them interested and it generated great discussion. The illustrations are beautiful. Wonderful addition to any library - home or classroom! Was this review helpful?
