    Un-put-down-able

Incredible read. The romance and suspense in this book are on equal footing. The paranormal plot to the book was not unbelievable if one keeps an open mind. This book made me cry and gave me goosebumps. The story draws you in and you can't find a good place to put down. Liz and Zach were great together.

    Another Great book

Scent Of Roses by Kat Martin is a spell binding, fast paced story. Elizabeth Conner, a family counselor agrees to help a pregnant and frightened Maria Santiago as a favor to Maria¿s teenage brother who she counsels. Elizabeth at first thinks what is going on in the Santiago household is just the stress from a soon to be mother. But after spending one night there Elizabeth is no longer sure. Zack Harcourt was always the black sheep of the family. He even spent some time in prison. But he has turned his life around and is helping out at a camp for troubled teens. There he sees Elizabeth again. They weren¿t close in high school but now there is an attraction that cannot be ignored. Zack is drawn into the strange and disturbing happenings at the Santiago home. He and Elizabeth join forces to get to the bottom of this mystery. They don¿t realize the evil they are dealing with and how close it is to them. Scent Of Roses will keep you on the edge of your seat from page one. The suspense is first rate, the chemistry between Zack and Elizabeth is deeply moving. It¿s a must read for any romantic suspense fan.

    Great book

Just recently discovered Kat Martin as an author and have enjoyed everything I have read so far. Will be looking for the second one in this series. It was agreat story and had some good twist in it. Was worth the time to read.

    I Also Recommend:

    Unbelievably bad.

The best thing about this book is the cover. Simple, vapid characters that border on stereotypes are barely engaging enough to make it worth turning the page. It should have been a Harlequin romance. I wondered if Ms. Martin made a product-placement deal, after the 9th time she mentioned a specific brand of diet soda all the characters seemed to drink every time they got 'parched'. The story is weak, the writing is heavy-handed, and the 'surprise' twists can be figured out halfway through. There are so many good, smart mysteries on the market, don't waste your time with this.

    Captivating & Intriguing -loved it!

Kat Martin is an excellent writer! All of her novels are 'page-turners', Scent of Roses included! Scent of Roses is ghost story with so many twists ... just when I thought I had it figured out ... there would be another turn of events. I couldn't put the book down until the last page -- a very suprising ending. A definite must read!

    terrific paranormal romantic suspense thriller

Following a difficult divorce family counselor Elizabeth Conner returns home to San Pico California. She begins her new practice working with youth. Client Raul enters a nearby drug rehabilitation program at the Harcourt Farm, but asks Elizabeth and instructor Zack Harcourt to see if his sister, Maria Santiago is okay as she suffers nightmares and fears for her unborn, but her spouse Miguel assumes is runaway hormones. Zack especially promises to help Maria. --- Elizabeth immediately sees the antipathy shared by Zack and his brother Carson, who runs the family farm, towards one another. Whereas Carson is all charm, Zack is dark and aloof perhaps because of his time in prison for the DUI vehicular accident that crippled their dad. Still he is empathic towards her concerns that something is wrong with the house that Maria resides in as if the place is haunted by a sad spirit. As Zack and Maria work together to solve the mystery of the ghostly girl visitor, they fall in love, but the ghostly investigation leads back to Zack¿s DUI and the disappearance of a nomadic loner Jake Benson four years ago. --- Based loosely on the reported story of a young female ghost haunting the home of a Hispanic couple in San Joaquin Valley, SCENT OF ROSES is a terrific paranormal romantic suspense thriller. The lead pairing make the tale extremely entertaining as the investigation by Zack and Elizabeth take them into the realm of the supernatural on the one hand and into the lethal natural past on the other hand. The lead couple each is flawed from their recent history she from her divorce and he from the DUI that crippled his dad. Filled with twists that will surprise and delight fans, Kat Martin provides a great amateur sleuth tale. --- Harriet Klausner
