SCORNED JUSTICE by Margaret Daley is a exciting inspirational Romantic Suspense. #3 in "The Men of The Texas Rangers' series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, "Saving Hope" and "Scattered Silence". Join Texas Ranger Brody Calhoun and Rebecca Morgan,Brody's High School sweetheart as they find healing, faith, strength, forgiveness and love. They must first battle organize crime, cattle rustlers, bribery, payoffs, secrets, murder, danger, corruption and than find of there is a place for their love after all these years. A whole community could be affected by what they find and not just them. Fast paced and will with action. You gotta love them Texas Rangers, rather from years gone by or today! Scorned Justice from The Men of the Texas Rangers series has got it all: murder, mystery and just enough romance to spice it up! I love a good mystery, especially one that remains a mystery until the reveal at the last possible moment. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Margaret Daley is an expert at dropping hints at the perfect time and keeping you guessing. There was never a moment I thought I had this book figured out and while it drives me crazy while I’m reading it, it keeps me reading and is key in a successful mystery.
Rebecca Morgan is a judge in a high profile case involving the Russian mafia and when key witnesses wind up missing, danger invades her life in the most unpleasant of ways. Her brother Thomas has a bad accident, or was it an accident? When high school friend Brody Calhoun shows up, he offers his protection as a Texas Ranger. Old flames start to re-ignite between them but after ten years, is there anything left between them?
Sometimes in extreme situations involving fear and danger, ones true feelings are revealed and things that were once buried come alive again. Rebecca has been devastated by the loss of her husband and hasn’t been ready to love again. Is she now? Her faith in love and life have been shaken to the core but maybe Brody’s faith and trust in God can help her regain hers.
The characters in this book were colorful and interesting. Even the characters like Thomas’s housekeeper Hattie and Brody’s dad Sean have a part in adding to the story through their unique and varied characteristics. I did get a little confused on some of the law parts of it involving the mafia and gangs and the trial and who belonged to what group. I found myself having to concentrate and sometimes re-read these sections. They weren’t always the easiest to follow but that just may be the way my brain processes things (or doesn’t).
Scorned Justice is full of intrigue that will leave you guessing until the very end and give you an unexpected ending you never saw coming.
