This is by far the most complicated and interesting mystery that Liss MacCrimmon has been involved in. She and her fiancé are working the case while trying to stay out of the way of Gordon Tandy (her ex boyfriend) who is the investigator in charge of this latest death. Being part of the State Police means his presence trumps all the local cops. Things start out really simple for Liss. She has a table at the First Annual Maine-ly Cozy Con. Granted, most people aren't interested in Scottish books or clothing, but Liss thinks that she will make sales. Besides, her best friend Nola has a table there also, selling books by the authors who are at this con. The Conference is full of readers, fans and well known authors. Finding out who done what to whom is going to bring real life mystery to this mystery gathering. I love this series. It pulled me in the minute I started reading the first book (Kilt Dead). Ms. Dennett's style of writing is entertaining and informative also. I learned a lot about Scottish heritage and sports from these mysteries. Scotched is an engaging MacCrimmon amateur sleuth
In Moosetookalook, Maine the Spruces Hotel hosts the First Annual Maine-ly Cozy Con for mystery fans who prefer limited violence and no graphic sex. The headline at the May gala is actress turned mystery writer Yvonne Quinlan. Also attending is odious blogger J. Nedlinger, who described the actress' book as trash to be tossed out. The town's storekeepers look forward to the gala as they expect plenty of cozy aficionados will buy items from shops such as at Liss MacCrimmon's everything plaid Scottish Emporium.
However, the Con turns graphically ugly when Nedlinger falls off Lover's Leap cliff. While no one liked the vicious unscrupulous blogger, everyone assumes it was a horrible accident. However, Liss reconsiders that premise when she realizes how many people celebrate the death of J. Nedlinger. When another victim surfaces, Liss and her town cohorts investigate who is murdering the Con.
Scotched is an engaging MacCrimmon amateur sleuth as the heroine and her BFFs look into the homicides. The background of a cozy Con makes for a fun retinue as does springtime in Maine. Cozy fans will enjoy attending the First Annual Maine-ly Cozy Con.

Not a cozy crazy myself and not having read the four books befor
Not a cozy crazy myself and not having read the four books before this one, I think I am out of the loop. felt like an amped up episode of Murder She Worte, the main setting, the busybody lady solving crimes. But that said, I used to watch alot of Murder She wrote just don't find it as startling as I did as a kid, same goes with this book! An ok read.

Tiresome
Same old story, Liss MacCrimmon sticks her nose in when it should be tending to other things. Two violent deaths, sends her running all over the place to catch the killer. Oh my, there he is and he's gonna kill her if Dan doesn't dp battle!
