I enjoyed reading Scoundrel For Hire. There was an interesting plot in this book that I had never encountered before. I would read more from this author.

    OK, NOT GREAT!

Just ok in my opinion, hard to follow. I had a little trouble staying
Interested enough to finish, but it got better toward the end.

    Decent story, poor characters

The heroine is heiress to a silver mine, and her name is Silver Nichols. That pretty much sums up the problem: predictable, stereotyped characters with cutesy names plucked straight out of a "how to create unique characters" handbook.

They have pewter eyes, silver eyes, sapphire eyes (with jet black hair that has one stark white stripe). There is the standard chubby old man chomping on a stogey, an angelic-looking hero with golden hair, and an evil but handsome aristocrat. There is even a predictably adorable baby otter who saves the day!

This book can't decide if it is a supernatural thriller or a swindle story. Even though it is the first in a series, it still left far too many loose ends and unexplained plot devices.

No, I wont read others in the series.

    Little dry

For a free book this was an okay read. Very dry read and took me a while to finish it. Also had some typos that had to go back and reread some sentences. Not interested in purchasing anything else from this author if they will also be that dry and with typos. If another book was free I may give it a try. Overall the story was decent, just needed to have more "spark" to the writing and able to keep the readers attention, wanting more. That simply was not the case here. But, good effort and kudos to the author who I'm sure worked very hard.
