I cannot. I simply cannot. Scrap Metal was too good for words and I don't care what anyone else says. Listen to me! I'm the one that is rooting for this fabulous book (okay, I should probably calm down, right?), but I cannot handle even explaining how much this book has affected me. Scrap Metal is the first M/M book that I have been able to read cover-to-cover. All of the other books I have attempted to read have just been homo-erotics and I do not have time for any of that. I love gays, and I love novels and I'll be damned if I don't love gay novels.

Even writing this review has made me all smiley and happy inside.

As I've said before, Scrap Metal is M/M book that actually has a plot-line (gasp!). The book is about Nichol, a fellow that lives with his grandfather, Harry, on Seacliff Farm. The family is minding their own business when Nichol stumbles upon a man (okay, boy-child) in his barn. He brings the boy, Cam, inside and finds out that he's in a bit of trouble. Nic lets Cam stay in his barn for the night and thank God he didn't leave, because how else would we have a story? I'm not going to give any more away, besides the fact that Cam starts working for Harry and if that doesn't give the whole story away, I don't know what will.

Anyways, Harper Fox has written a deliciously descriptive, tantalizing and captive story that I will certainly read many times over. How could you not? I just cannot get over the fact that Scrap Metal actually has a story line. I guess I have been looking in all of the wrong places when it comes to wanting to read a story with main characters who are gay instead of straight.

The characters were deep and even though they both had a dump truck of emotional things happen to them, they didn't become "stereotypical gays". I hate that. I hate how authors (not Ms. Fox) have to make their homosexual characters turn whiny and like limp noodles whenever anything bad happens. Just. Don't. (I'm not trying to offend anyone who may happen to be homosexual, I'm just stating a reooccuring trend in entertainment). I love, love, love Nichol and Cam when they are together and even when they are apart. They can both handle their own and despite how they act in "real life", Cameron surprised me when it came time for them to have sex. I had been led to think that Cam would be on bottom (okay, stereotypes were getting to me), but Ms. Fox threw out a wild card with the waterfall scene. You go girl.

I beyond thankful to find this diamond in the rough and I will certainly read more of Ms. Fox's books.

    A majestic story

Having close to 650 pages the novel goes deeply into forming a story with depth. The characters are well created and story is almost believable. It is a gut wrenching story of loss, but also of love found. Bravo Harper Fox keep the novels coming !

So, how about an actual review...?

Harper Fox has hit another one out of the park. Translation: splendid story with lusty, lovely, emotionally injured characters that just need time to heal in order to walk tall again in the sun. Absolutely LOVE the depth of her writing!

    Scrap Metal

Scrap Metal is simply exquisite. A beautiful tale of complex intense and damaged people trying to find their way through life, hoping to understand and forgive themselves and each other for their choices. This is a slow read and worth every second of Harper Fox's lyrical style. I loved her characters; I cried, laughed, and smiled while reading. Just a beautiful wonderful novel. Please read.

    Rockpaw (StarClan cat)

Rivertail and brairsong are in my old clan. I know how you feel Metalpaw. I was only trained by my mentor once and then he was gone and the leader, who was my mother, never gave me a new mentor. I was an apprentive for, like, ever. Then I was attacked by a wolf and was dying. And since no one cared enough to help, even after the fire, I died. No one even noticed I was dead.

    Metalshine

Metalshine paced around. "But what if no one remembers me? What if everyone hates me for leaving? What if everyone thinks I wont be loyal because I left..... ooh! I worry to much! I always did and always have! Little scared... got to show myself! No time for being scared now!"
