A Gem in the History of Science
This brief volume is a wonderful introduction to Nicolas Steno and his time with an emphasis on Steno's work in geology. Cutler does an excellent job of presenting the historical, political, and scientific background as well as the personalities involved in a lucid and enjoyable style. Cutler does an excellent job of presenting the geological puzzle of sea shells on mountain tops and how Steno worked through to the answer. I highly recommend this book to any one interested in history or science. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Excellent treatise on the evolution of scientific thought
I picked up this book on a whim and am ever thankful. It is well written, well researched, and extremely interesting. It is a must read for all budding geologists and for anyone interested in the evolution of the scientific method. I have loaned and given it to geologists, physicians, and ministers. It is that good! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
