As an avid JQ fan, I'll read anything she writes. But as several other reviewers noted, 'The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever' falls somewhat short of the first-rate romance fans have come to expect from Ms. Quinn. Like her earlier works, 'Diaries' sparkles with well-crafted wit and laugh-out-loud humour. It is an easy and enjoyable read, but one cannot help feeling (unfortunately) distanced from Quinn's characters and instead endeared to the author herself. All in all, 'The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever' is another showcase for Quinn's inherent humour and style, but if your looking for a hero you can fall in love with and a heroine you can truly root for - try her other titles.Show Less

I am a Julia Quinn fan

I was not happy with this book. It started off as a good read but as you got into the book the characters were weak. I was disappointed because I have read all of her books and ran to the store to buy this one.

    An enjoyable read

Well, Julia Quinn has done it again. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While not as wonderful as some of her others, nonetheless a fun read. I like her tongue in cheek humor that runs throughout her books. None of her characters is perfect, but they ARE all too human. I particularly like it when characters from her other books make an appearance in the current one I am reading. It seems to give everything a sense of continuity, which I find enjoyable. I could wish she wrote her books even faster, since I devour them so readily, but then they might lose some of their quality. But I'll be waiting for the next story - Olivia's perhaps?

    Make Some Time

If you plan to read this book, let me suggest you set aside a good block of time because you are not going to want to put it down. I know I didn't. From my first introduction to the smart, witty, if not classically pretty 10 year-old Miranda, I was hooked. She only improved with age. I couldn't help but see Turner through her eyes and love him right alongside.

I suppose it's not any surprise that, following this review, I'm snapping up the next book in this series, "What happens in London."

    LOVE IT!!

I got this book the first week it come out. It has a great plot. The story start strong but somewhere in the middle or so the character becomes weak. I still love the book and I enjoy it very much!

    Not Julia Quinn's Best

I love Julia Quinn's novels, and I thought Miranda was an interesting heroine. However, Turner, the love interest, was hard to sympathize with. His change of heart at the end of the novel seemed forced, and he was much too unlikeable for most of the work. I found myself skimming the last half. I would recommend her Bridgerton or Smythe-Smith series over this.

    Incredible!!

I absolutely love this book! It is one of those classic and cliche 'i fell in love with my best friend's brother' story, but 10 times better!! What i love most is that the characters are real! The emotions and the development of their feelings were realistic, and not too rush. Quinn didnt attempt to create "exciting" scenes between the characters at their first meeting, etc. Miranda and Turner had a beautiful and classical love story that makes you laugh, cry, angry, hurt...you name it! Everytime i read this book it's like the first time all over again!
