Single menopause gals read this book at your own risk!!!

While I agree with Northrup's views on sex in general, her suggestions are often followed by, "If you have a partner," which as a single perimenopaual woman I find extremely hurtful and offensive. What she fails to recognise in this book is that the overall menopausal experience, and more specifically sex, is different for the single menopaual woman. Her suggestions, while well intentioned, mainly apply to women with partners, what little she does offer to the rest of us, is very limiting because, HELLO there's no intimacy behind them. If you are one of the lucky few that is happy to stay single and let that part of your life fall by the wayside, then congrats, but that's not all of us!!! And for you menopausal women who gripe about their partners, look at things from our POV: You all can look foward to the nice stuff that comes before and after. Single menopausal women don't get that, well except for the ones who have no reservations about picking up a different guy for every night of the week, LOL! Here again is another book about menopause that was written for one group of women -married or in LTRs, while unfairly ignoring the issues and concerns of single women. I get so tired of people like Doctor Northrup who write from such a narrow minded POV! Maybe if she wrote a book specifically for single menopaual women I might be more forgiving. I will say however that she is not the only person promoting this bigotry, almost all of the menopause books and materials I've read with the exception of two, write from the same viewpoint. It sucks and IMHO makes me feel excluded, left out, and less than because of what I don't have.
