I didn't enjoy this one as much as Jack Blank & The Imagine Nation (aka The Accidental Hero), but it was still a fun adventure, with lots of superpowers, action and some mystery. As the author says in the jacket, this was the first book with tight deadline and busy life (new child, full-time job) and it shows - the writing was uneven at times, including some mixed metaphors and unintentional contradictions which, fortunately, may be glossed over by younger readers. One thing to note is that this series is "youth" oriented (probably best for 8-12 range), not "young adult" (typically 13-17, such as the Harry Potter or the "Uglies" series) - unless you really love superpowers, you will probably not enjoy this as a teen or adult. But for imaginitive kids or those who loved the first book, check it out. For parents, there is essentially zero romance in this book (only the barest hint of a childish flirtation). There is some violence (though less than in the first book), mostly of "cartoon" sort, involving superpower fights. And there is some darkness (in terms of Jack feeling isolated / guilty for much of the book) and oppressive powers (e.g., alien robot parasites wanting to take over the world), so if your child is easily frightened, this might not be a good choice. But for tone, it's about on par with the first book (which I'd recommend you start with anyways), so if that was fine, this will be too.

    Demigod story

Last part at demigod files. The Hermes cabin got into a line, and walked out. I followed them. We were headed towards the mess hall when several campers ran by us. They were going towards the forest. The campers started muttering among thenselves. I heard snippets of conversation... "the dragon" "must have gone been sighted again" and more. When we reached the mess hall, we sat at one of the tables on the far side of the room. I noticed more lines coming into the hall and sitting down at tables. "I'm guessing each cabin has it's own table?" I said to the guy next to me. "Yep." He said. "My name is Conner Stoll, by the way. This is my brother, Travis." He said, gesturing to the guy next to him. "Hi", Travis said. Just then, Chiron, who stood at a table at the front of the room, said "as many of you may have noticed, there are a few interesting things that happened today. I will start with the most recent. The dragon, as many may already suspect, has been sighted again. But it is under control. The Hephaestus cabin is working quite hard on this problem, and it hopefully will be resolved soon. Second, Percy was lucky enough to have found another demigod today. May i introduce Ariana Stella. Miss Stella, please stand up." I stood, feeling many sets of eyes bore into me. I sat down again, feeling rather embarassed. Chiron continued. "Thirdly, capture the flag will take place on thursday. That is all. Enjoy your meal." I looked down at my plate, then over at the food plates around me. I filled my plate, and was about to dig in, when Conner stopped me. "Wait. You have to sacrifice to the gods first. Here, i'll show you." He led me to one of the bronzr braziers lining the mess hall. I saw other campers doing the same. Conner scraped part of his food into the fire. "It is an offering to the gods." I scraped some of my food into the fire, then followed Conner back to the table. After dinner, the cabins got into their lines to go to the campfire. Next part at result two
