    A reviewer

I'm always hesitant to start a Kleypas novel since they're always a shot in the dark for me. I liked the idea of the Wallflower series and I'm supremely excited for the next book in the series but all in all I was a bit bored by Secrets of a Summer Night. I can't really even say why. There really is nothing wrong with this book. But in the same way, there really is nothing all that great about it. If you are a big fan of Kleypas's other work then you'll probably love this book, but if you're like me and you find her work inconsistently enjoyable then you might want to think twice.

    Not my favorite

While I am a fan of Lisa Kleypas, this is not my favorite book by her. I even put it down, and read all my other books and only when I was through did I go back to this one. I just did not like it very much. But you know what they say 'those who can write, do, those who cant...critique'.

    review

i've read this book at least three times and it always amazes me. i admit, the beginning wasn't very attractive but as the story unfolded, it was awesome. though, there really is no love connection between the hero and heroine. the action all comes later on in the book. in simple terms it was okay.

    Platable

It's a well written story but it is missing a certain oomph. The relationship between Anabelle and Simon seems as if it's missing something important and I found Anabelle, as a character, to be just barely tolerable. I found myself inclined to agree wtih Westfield in that she is shallow and mercenary. When I expected the story to end it continued on to make a too obvious point about Anabelle's maturing. I've read better from her but despite the flaws it's still a good story.

I am awaiting for Marcus and Lillian's story

From the moment I read the excerpts, I wanted to read the 2nd installment of this series rather than the 1st book. I think Secrets of the Summer Night was an okay book. The book was drawn out. I do like Simon and Anabelle and their attraction to each other. I really like the ending to this story, just wished it happened earlier in the book. I only read this book to get more info on Lillian and Marcus. I did read on Lisa Kleypas' website that she found Marcus to be her favorite after Derek Craven. So I would expect his story will be a favorite among readers.
