SF Romance with Heat 4.5 STARS

Frank's characters are why I keep buying her books! She also knows how to world build with the best of them. I admit to liking SEDUCE ME IN DREAMS better, but I think that's because I liked Bronse better. What a nice surprise then to have he and Ravenna make a cameo so we can catch up with her pregnancy and their relationship a bit. It added a little comic relief to an otherwise dark story. That small scene made me realize, however, just how much more dynamic Rav is than Ambrea. (And, that's saying something because I wasn't overly excited about Rav's characterization in the first Three Worlds novel, not when you compare her to some of the female protagonists in Franks' Nightwalkers series, for instance.) Ender was much more enjoyable. Since we didn't know much about him in the first book, each detail we learned added so much dimension to his character. He has his Alpha male moments, especially in the opening scenes, and I liked how he only showed his vulnerability to Ambrea so that to the rest of the world he was still the strong, silent type. It made their intimacy all the more special. On a technical note, I was pleased to find less head-hopping in this story compared to many of Franks' other books. Had I warmed up to Ambrea a bit more, I would have given SEDUCE ME IN FLAMES five stars because once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.

    more from this reviewer

This author always writes a teriffic tale

On the planet Ulkre, Emperor Benit Tsu Allay executed his common law wife for treason and exiled his daughter Ambrea Vas Allay when she was four years old. She seen her sire twice over the years; both times he accused her of treason before banishing her again. Ambrea is told to come home, which she assumes means her execution as she is now at the age her father can legally kill her. Instead she learns he is dead and her younger half-brother Qua Tsu Allay who she meets for the first time sits on the throne. Her sibling is a puppet ruler as Ambrea's paternal uncle Balkin Tsu Allay pulls the strings.

Her uncle demands she cede her rightful place as the Empress or die in the dungeons. Tarian Rush "Ender" Blakely is assigned by the Interplanetary Militia to rescue the imprisoned princess. He arranges to be locked up so he can liberate the princess from inside. However Ender never expected to be attracted to the royal prisoner even as he conceals dark secrets from his peers and his desire for Ambrea. She feels the heat of attraction to the tattooed Tarian, but knows her people come first while her fuming uncle plans for her to join her late parents.

The latest Three Worlds military-political romantic science fiction tale (see Seduce Me in Dreams) is an action-packed thriller starring a brave woman who overcomes being the ridiculed daughter of an executed convicted traitor to try to help her people though they scorn her. Faster than the speed of light even before the Interplanetary Militia arrives, fans will enjoy Ambrea's adventures as she has more lives than a cat to her uncle's chagrin.

    Good read.

The princess was suddenly smarter than anyone else which was annoying, but the story was pretty entertaining.

Jacquelyn Frank has become one of my favorite Authors of all time. I love a good steamy romance but some I have read really don't have a great plot. Hers are wonderful and keep you reading!!!
