Originally posted at: www.longandshortreviews.blogspot.com ***** This story is a classic case of Tag, Dodge Ball and Hide and Go Seek. The game of love abounds with the pursuit, the tease and the requisite bad guys to make this story a consistent page turner.

Cassie is the heroine and a lady who could define the word 'survivor'. At a young age, her world, her life and her future was destroyed and she was left to fend for herself in the only way she knew how. She lived with real wolves. Because of that event she has dedicated herself to their protection. She's knowledgeable, earnest and knows no fear when she's on the trail of a new pack to observe and get to know. I would say she's a bit obsessed too. She has good reason, that's true. But she has turned into a woman who finds it almost impossible to trust another person, human or werewolf. So she does things her own way. For the most part, it's an admirable quality but as she finds out the hard way, being alone has some great disadvantages. And she has to eventually come to the realization that she wants more out of life than what she's settled for. It's that road to discovery which weaves throughout this book that allows a reader to get to know Cassie, and care for her. A reader wants her to be happy but wants her to lighten up too. She's so stubborn! Then again, she is an alpha female.

Leidolf is the alpha and pack leader. I've been waiting for his story because in previous books in the series, he seemed so alone and I didn't want him to be. Finally he has his lady love but the path to wedded bliss, werewolf style is fraught with peril - she is too stubborn to admit she wants him; he's got other guys wanting to usurp his leadership, teenagers doing stupid stunts compounded by raging hormones and a mystery that if left unsolved could get some people near and dear to Leidolf, killed. Talk about pressure. But the hunky red wolf is up to the challenge and won't let anyone deter him from his goal, and that's mating with Cassie. Unfortunately, he makes more than your average amount of detours in his quest to gain Cassie's agreement to mate. One of those places is downright embarrassing, which of course made me snicker. What endeared me to his character was his inability and in fact, total bemusement in doing business accounting and math. He was hopeless which made him flawed, vulnerable and for a romance hero, perfect.

The bad guys and the good guys get mixed up a bit for awhile. I had a hard time figuring out if the bad guys were really bad or misguided and the ones I expected to be troublesome ended up being halfway decent. A lot of twists and turns, misleading hints and diabolical misconceptions kept me guessing and wondering throughout the book. All the threads woven throughout were tied up either as an exciting action packed confrontation, romantic seduction with spectacular results or a comedic zing that lightened up the dramatic tone of most of this story. The secondary characters were varied, numerous and interesting. There are even adorable puppies to coo over.

Ms. Spear has another exciting winner on her hands with Seduced By The Wolf. It delves into pack dynamics and a man's sense of self. It shows the value of trust and the joy of protecting family. It's a book worthy to continue the wolf series that I fell in love with a few books ago. It's so well thought out and orchestrated, it's a pleasure to read. I hope she writes another one soon, and I can't wait.

No one makes werewolves seem real better than romantic urban fantasist Terry Spear

In Oregon, rancher Leidolf Wildhaven is worried about the purebred humans wanting to look too closely at the wilderness wolf populace. Not that the timing would be good ever for him and the werewolf pack he leads but this particular moment is disastrous as he just came from Colorado to take over as Alpha leader of a dispirited pack; werewolves who are without spirit and zest for life become easy targets.

Adding to his headaches is the leggy biologist Dr. Cassie Roux who believes wolves in the wild need protection from human predators. She has problems caused by her angry peer, wolf biologist Alex Wellington and her attraction to this rancher who says a wolf is man's best friend. She can sniff the lupus garou scent he emits. Courageous she tries to protect a she-wolf and newborn litter from rogues (wolves, hunters and enemy biologists) while also trying to keep her heart safe from a hunk of a werewolf.

No one makes werewolves seem real better than romantic urban fantasist Terry Spear continually does with her "Wolf" saga (see Legend of the White Wolf, To Tempt a Wolf, Heart of the Wolf and Destiny of the Wolf). Her fifth were-wolfish thriller is a strong tale of two dedicated people wanting to d the best for the wolfish populace in the northwest. Sub-genre fans will want to roam Oregon with this lead couple as outside a werewolf, a book by Terry Spear's is woman's best friend; inside the werewolf it is to dark to read (Groucho is turning over in his grave).

    I Also Recommend:

    Wonderful werewolf fantasy

Ever have one of those days when bad luck seems to follow you around?

Well, that seems to be the case for Oregon rancher Leidolf Wildhaven in author Terry Spear's latest release, SEDUCED BY A WOLF. Leidolf is terrible at managing the finances of his ranch and he had his hands full with several abused youths he's taken in. The fact that he has also just taken over as Alpha leader of the wayward pack of lupus garou (werewolf) just adds to his problems.

The wolf biologist Cassie Roux shows up to lecture on wolves. Leidolf is instantly attracted to her, which makes no sense. He's never been drawn to a human female before.

Cassie has her own agenda. She is fearlessly protective of wolves. She is able to study them in ways no other wolf biologist can. Having lost her family at an young age, Cassie was raised by wolves and being a lupus garou, she git right in.

When Leidolf and Cassie meet for the first time, she is wearing a cover scent so he doesn't know she's a lupus garou. But she knows he is and vows to stay clear of him. Leidolf learns Cassie has spotted a red wolf in the nearby Mount Hood National Forest. He's determined to find out more, afraid it could be one of his rogue pack members disobeying his orders again.

The search for the red wolf leads both Cassie and Leidolf into harrowing encounters with hunters and authorities from the local zoo intent on capturing wolves. Along the way, Leidolf learns of Cassie's true nature making him more determined to know her.

As Cassie and Leidolf fight for the survival of their species and the wolf, they battle their feelings for one another.

Author Terry Spear has done a wonderful job of blending light paranormal, romance, suspense, and mystery into a tantalizing story that will capture your heart. There is bits of humor and mischief woven into the right places of this story of dedication, honor and loyalty. The author makes the world of lupus garou come to life.

This is the fifth book in Terry Spear's werewolf series, but it is a stand alone book. Readers meet characters from previous books - including Leidolf - but aren't left in the dark if they haven't read the prior books yet.

For an enjoyable read and the opportunity to let your imagination run wild, pick up SEDUCED BY A WOLF and escape to Leidolf and Cassie's world where love does rule.

Author overused "lupus garou" phrase. Otherwise, passable fun.

    it's ok

A lot of unnecessary repetitiveness through out the book. Starts out good, gets confusing & hard to follow in the middle, then ends well. A huge power struggle between the two main characters.

Teary Spear's paranormal romantic suspense novel SEDUCED BY THE WOLF is a sizzling, fast-paced romance novel. Her knowledge of real wolf culture is connected with the werewolf mystique effectively merging science and science fiction. Dr. Cassie Roux is a wolf biologist while Leidolf is a rancher. However, both are werewolves as well. The attraction between them is immediate and forceful. But Cassie is on a mission to protect endangered wolves. She sees Leidolf as a possible threat and hindrance. Leidolf has his own mission and take on their relationship.
