Chapter Three- (Talon's POV)
I follow Odin through the forest, my gaze darting left and right. My mind drifts back to the plan-making.
"We need transportation. Moving on paw won't work. Not for long." Windy, a small Golden Retriever, had said.
"Well, we can't exactly hijack a car." Rocket pointed out.
"Actually..." A sly grin had spread across Flight's face before he told us his plan. We were to find a vehicle headed to the same "prison" as Kalanthe and Eclipse's. We would sneak in at a rest stop, like where the truck had stopped. We freed the animals, rode to the "prison," and freed everyone in the whole place.
"Sound good?" He had concluded. Almost everyone had reluctantly agreed.
"I hope they're okay..." Cicada's ginger-and-white sister, Freesia, comments quietly.
"We all do." Rocket replies solemnly.
Grace, a petite blue-jay who had offered to help us, flutters down and sighs. "No signs of it. A white van with a symbol of pawprints surrounding human-writings? Didn't see that." She reports.
I flatten my ears and stop, discouraged. "What's the point?" I ask hopelessly. "They're gone."
Luna whips around and stalks over to me. Looking more wolflike then I've ever seen her, she shoves her muzzle in my face and growls, "The POINT is that our FRIENDS and your SISTER are being carted off to sit in a tiny cage for the rest of their lives, or MAYBE go home with some human. Do you think Kalanthe or Eclipse want that? Do you think they want to be a pet?" Her blue eyes blaze, and seem to bore into me.
"No." I answer, refusing to back away from the vicious dog. I shove past her and stalk ahead, ignoring her. They can't expect everyone to be EXCITED about this!
Flight trots up to join me. "Phew, I thought she was gonna chew your head off!"
I bristle. "She needs to calm down."
"Yeah. You're not the only one who's losing hope." Flight agrees.
I nod and look ahead, focusing on the task at paw.

After a long silence, Kalanthe pipes up. "That was pretty brave of ya, kid."
"I couldn't leave you behind." I reply.
"Well, thanks. You may have saved my tail. Arriving with a younger animal could save me from being killed on the spot. Since I'm older and all."
I nod and rest my head on my paws. I let my eyes droop closed.
I wake up to find myself being carried into a large building. I look around at the plastic cage walls, and press towards the back corner nervously.
Kalanthe and I are taken to a room full of cages. Cats occupy the cages. I hear dogs barking across the hall, but this room is quiet.
We are put in cages next to each other. The man shuts the cage doors, locks them, and leaves.
"New cats." A voice meows. It sounds cold and devoid of emotion.
I peer at the cage opposite me, close enough that I could stretch my paw between the bars and touch the barred door of the opposite cage.
A pair of luminous green eyes open, and glow in the cage. I scramble back in surprise, my hackles raising. A young brown tabby tom, about my age, pads into the pool of light at the front of his cage.
"Hello." He says. "I'm Hunt."
((If you've read my other story, Evening, at "timber" all results, you're probably going "Oh yeeeaaah! It's younger Hunt! :D" If not, you're probably going "Oh, joy, another character. :/" Please, enjoy! :3))
