Very Helpful Book For Getting Started

Ziglar really nails it. His long experience in the industry helps him see what works and what does not and he puts everything simply and easy to understand.

"Selling 101" is a scaled down version of Ziglar's mor

"Selling 101" is a scaled down version of Ziglar's more robust sales book "Ziglar on Selling." With that said, Ziglar provides a basic summary of required sales skills and processes that are perfect for the beginner. The book is also very short and you can probably burn through it in a couple of hours. It is best used as a primer to determine where your weaknesses are so that you can find other material to shore them up. In my case, closing the sale would be an area to further explore. It's a little dated as the whole "getting to yes" approach has been so overused that it's pretty ineffective. My only serious complaint about the book is that it's written from the perspective of a sales organization...and can be difficult to apply for an individual entrepreneur who doesn't have a sales manager to consult. He also doesn't provide much depth in the most important skills - especially in closing the sale - without pointing you to his other works. A great primer, but a little lean.

    Can't Go Wrong With Ziglar

Ziglar is one of my all-time favorite authors and motivational speakers. This book is one of the better ones. For more on cold calling techniques, I suggest 'Dead Guys Don't Buy' by E.R. Carpenter.

The basic smart course in sales techniques

Seldom is a book as aptly named as Selling 101. This is a true primer on the ABC¿s of selling. Author and sales expert Zig Ziglar walks you through the sales process, teaching you how to find prospects, overcome 'call reluctance,' pose the right questions and ask for the order. He touches on all of the fundamentals, using examples from his experiences to illustrate his main points. His brief, concise prose is easy to understand and even easier to incorporate into your sales practices. The seasoned sales professional will not find anything new in this basic textbook, but we recommend it to anyone who is new to selling, particularly if you lack a mentor to give you this kind of guidance. This handy manual will provide know-how that is usually gained only by experience in the field.

What can you say about the master?!

This is pure Zig Ziglar selling. He's refined and exhibits integrity in the sales process. This is a definite must have for any Ziglar fanatic, and a few who are not fanatical as well.
