It is an amazing book that I could not put down. This book is a metaphor and should be read with that in mind. I absolutely loved it. It changed my life and my understanding of god!Show Less

Blah
Not impressed! I could not wait to finish this book. The beginning an end were great but about 100 pages in the middle completely lost me. Don't waste your time. This book is redundant.

The Shack
One of the most important books I have read in a long time. Great book to read and share/discuss with your friends. It is wonderful to read a book that has God as a compassionate, loving God not an authoritative, judgmental one. The best depiction of the Trinity I have read anywhere and a good explanation of how God can use even the worst events to bring about good. Plus the book is easy to read and hard to put down.

Best Book next to the Bible that I've read in a long time
This book has opened my eyes in so many areas. A person must read it with an open mind and heart. It is a book that I would highly encourage everyone to read.

I loved this book. It opened my eyes to looking at life in a different way. Turning your life over to God and know that in the end He has it all planed out. Forgiving those that do harm against you and opening your heart and understanding that in the end He will get you through it.

by James B. De Young. This author was actually friends with the author of 'The Shack' and gives you inside truths about 'The Shack's' many UNTRUTHS. If you don't really know or understand the Scripture of the Bible, 'The Shack' will trick you. It's charming storyline is laced with biblical sounding undertones, but they aren't the TRUTH. Wm. Paul Young twists and distorts the Holy Scripture given to us by GOD Himself. Please don't let this FICTION fool you into thinking this is what the Holy Scripture means. The Bible warns us about heresy such as this....it's blasphemy. It's purely fiction...don't let it stir ANY spiritual feeling in you. Look at it as a fiction, it's nothing more than fiction. pick up the paperback for your loved ones
I have puchased numerous copies of the paperback for my friend and family who are troubled and going through their own personal hardships. After reading they seemed to understand God's love and nearness. There is a passage which is pointed out to the character that he says that God has forgotten him... God responds that it was your pain that you could not see me, but I was always there.

Life changing read
This book hooked me from the moment I opened it. Seeing the power of God in the forms of various entities is refreshing and eye opening. Making a personal connection to the story was inevitable for me. i cried of joy, sorrow, and pure awe. This is a wonderful read that will stir your heart, mind, and soul.

Turned Me Inside Out
This is truly one of the best Christian books I have ever read. Relationship not responsibility, put in such simple words - I had so many ah ha moments the sun was above my head instead of a light bulb. Pretty gripping to read the beginning as a parent but moving with him in his pain and then past it and watching God truly reveal Himself to him was absolutely amazing. Makes you think about all the limitations we put on the One who is limitless. This book causes introspection and a desire for the Father relationship we were all meant to have. Read it , then share it :)

It will change you!
If you need to forgive someone in your life, read this book. This book has a bit of a slow start, but stick with it. I cried buckets throughout this book. An unforgetable read!

The Shack is just a story, well written; but non the less it is still just a fictional story.
It is fiction. Fiction that holds a wee bit of truth and a whole lot of imagination. Just enough truth is given to cause major confusion; read The Shack for entertainment only. For this purpose the book is great and the author has a way of telling the story to make the reader feel the emotions the characters feel. If you have felt pain, brokenness, depression, grief, regret and losses you will relate to the characters is this book. If you are looking for more than entertainment and are needing answers for your personal pain, brokenness, depression, grief, regret or losses this book is not for you. The answers it gives is fictional, on the other hand God is real and has the answers you are looking for. The Shack had the makings of a true inspirational message, but the course it took was actually just the opposite. If the reader takes the message from this book that God is whatever we want him to be to satisfy our desires or needs and applies that to his/her life then the reader will be sadly disappointed in the end. God is who He is; He is Holy, He is the Creator, He loves us, and He is Just. The Shack is just a story, well written; but non the less it is still just a fictional story. Entertainment Only.

life altering
This book grips you by your laurels and ideals about God and challenges you to decide what is truly important and what it is that you believe in. Before this book my views were very different, this book is inspiting. You will be shocked and there are times when you are uncontrollably bawling but it is one of the best books that i have read in a very long time.

It's all in relationship
This book is the must powerful and life changing book that anyone could read. However, it takes a great understanding as to who God is in our lives and how we are to operate as He operates in relationship. This is a must read.....

It may affect you.
I have heard either amazing comments about this book or very bad comments. I personally don't think it is that bad, but it can be boring. This book is a very slow read and is extremely descriptive. I was never really drawn into the book at any point. I wouldn't recommend this book to just anyone, only a specific bunch. I would recommend this book to people who have just lost someone in their life and don't know why God took that person from them and also people who are searching for a relationship with God. Throughout the book, the Trinity talks to Mack and the book gives very useful and meaningful words of wisdom and truth. If the book didn't have the religious aspect of it, I wouldn't have finished it, but I learned or renewed knowledge throughout the book and you will learn something also. You will either enjoy this book or really dislike it. If I were you, just read it and give it a couple chapters because it will teach you something, even if it isn't the best book people have read. The Shack was written for a reason, and you may need to read it to be affected by it.

This is the best book I have ever read
The book has some hard spots in it but you have to keep reading it to get to the beauty of the book. It will have a different affect or meaning to each reader. It has inspired me to take a look at myself and make a postive change.

The Shack is riveting
This book makes you think on a higher level. It challenges your faith and what you THINK you know about God and especially the Trinity. I used to think of God as a king on a thron ruling with an iron fist. This book has changed the way that I speak to Him. I now know that he is sitting with me side-by-side and that I can be at ease with talking to him about anything...anything at all. My faith has been forever altered. I was raised a Christian, but this book has taken my relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to another level that I didn't think I could obtain. I feel free now. I feel loved more than ever and I know that God is working His perfect will within my life and the life of my family regardless of my decisions. This book is a must read...and then pass it on to a friend that you really care about. This speaks to heart and soul and captures in a few short pages what I couldn't in an hour long speach.

Amazing literary work. If life has you feeling depressed and lost; this story can be a welcome road map to a feeling of bliss. This book is a must read to a clearer understanding of the true meaning of being alive.
When I was a few pages into the story just before the Missy incident, I almost put the book down to a touch of boredom. It stemmed from the feeling that not much was happening aside from Mack going through day to day mundane activities. His falling and cracking his head was a bit amusing to me but by then I was ready to call it a day and move on to a new book. Then the heart wrenching Missy incident happened and Mack's "unwise" trip to "the shack." At this point I could not put the book down, but neither did I desire to read on because I didn't want to hurry to the end of the book. THIS is how beautifully written the book is.
If you can imagine the most enjoyable weather possible infused with the most intriguing flower scents wafting into your nostrils as you munch on your favorite foods all the while feeling totally safe drnking the finest libations and immersed within an aura of joy as you share it all with one-in-the-same friend and kin: this is how I felt as I read. The Missy incident became a gratifying explanation for all the "wrongs" done in the world; Mack's anguish: a catharsis provoking experience. His coming to terms with Kate spoke to similar communication problems I have had with my younger daughter and put them in prespective for me. The book is like holding and peering into a photo of God. You can readily "see" beyond the written words and without succumbing to religiosity feel the spirit that sparks the true meaning of who and what we are and represent.
