Shadow Hills is a town shrouded in mystery, where Phe begins her journey as a student at Devenish Preparatory School. There she tries to understand her dead sister's involvement with a town she never visited along with her own uncanny visions of a past Shadow Hills. Phe realizes nearly immediately that not only the town, but the people from Shadow Hills are hiding a secret. This is one of the best things I love about this novel. Phe is not clueless. She doesn't see the townies attract metal and think she is delusional or try to rationalize it as seen in so many YA novels. She instead stops, and with her curious nature, tends to delve straight into any danger as she puzzles out what is wrong in Shadow Hills, along with a case of whodunit when she stumbles upon a murdered townie. Phe even realizes something is not quite right with her, especially as her visions start coming true, and a mysterious shape starts to appear on her body.

Shadow Hills has everything from action and adventure to romance not to mention a group of friends Phe finds that will stick by her side. It turned out to be a great novel, and I can't wait to find what else Phe discovers about Shadow Hills and her own abilities.

I expected more from the story

I felt like the characters weren't very well developed and the storyline could have been a little in depth. I feel like I would have liked to have known a little more about the town's past and also the twins' past. We didn't get to learn enough about the rest of the book in the book, which really disappointed me.
I really expected more.
