This book came out in 2006. Ikd about your town but the PJ craze didn't start in my state until 2009, when the Last Olympian came out. Also, the charactors and gods are completely different. Stop saying it is based on Percy Jackson just because it is about mytholigy. I have always loved reading mytholigy books, so I can tell you that there were fiction books about Greek mytholigy before Percy Jackson, and ther will be books about Greek mytholigy after. Percy Jackson just made this genre populor to those who didn't already love reading it.
Also, about this book, I loved it. Though it was slow in the beginning, it picks up and has non-stop action afterward. I am going to get the next book soon.

Not Very Good

Complete fail at writing a book about Greek mythology. If you want a good mythology book, read Rick Riordan.

    Wannabe Lightning Thief!!!

I was at Barnes and Noble one day, and stumbled across this book. I read the back and thought to myself this seems like a pretty good book. Two months earlier i had just started reading THE LIGHTNING THIEF and had finished it in one day. I had been looking for a good book since then, so when i found this book i thought it was a miracle! BOY, I COULDNT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!!! I personally thought it was a wannabe of THE LIGHTNING THIEF!!! I found it very ironic that two years after it came out, THE SHADOW THIEVES came out, and that kids go to the underworld to retrieve something whether it is a cure or a missing master lightning bolt! The title THE SHADOW THIEVES sounds like it the author got the idea for it from THE LIGHTNING THIEF!It just dragged on in most parts of the book and when it wasnt dragging on, it was very confusing. It described every little detail. If you didnt Know at least one character, you would be just utterlly, utterally lost! An many times through out the book i had to litterally skip some pages sometimes a chapter or two because i got really really bored! When i was done reading that book i was happy. It kills me to do a bad review on the book, but I`m being really honest here!!! It wasnt fast paced enough for me. I barely remember the book that is how bad it was!!!
