I really enjoyed this book! An old friend of mine is a Shakespeare buff and actor of Shakespearean plays. He and I had several lively talks about the information given in the book about the life and times of Shakespeare. It was fun and the book and those conversations inspired me to download the Complete Works of Shakespeare. Both of these books are free, which fits my pocketbook right now.

Interesting Biography

This is really a biography of Shakespeare. Covers his whole life including items of controversey. Also included tables of events in history, and other fields that happened during his life.

    Quick and Informative Read

I read this on a flight and felt that it was time very well-spent. The biographical narrative, however speculative it might be, is fascinating. The snippets of text from actual plays motivated me to pick up a couple of the Bard's works I had never read before. Definitely a worthwhile download!

    Worth every penny

I really enjoyed reading this book. I am a huge fan of Willy S. and this slim volume cuts through the junk and gives an honest take on my man Bill. Download it, what do have to lose....it's free!

    Pretty informative!

This book took me a while to get into, but once I was past about 25 pages, I really enjoyed it. It gave a brief overview of his plays and a couple of scenes from the favorite ones. It also gave a very nice history of Shakespeare's life, from what they know. I especially enjoyed the last portion which gave many references for various readers, i.e., students, actors, playwrights, directors, etc.

    What's wrong with you?

The title isn't "A Life & Career in Shakespeare". It's "Shakespeare in an Hour". IN AN HOUR! Indicating an overview, a guide, a summary, an outline, a succinct and to-the-point hold-your-hand tour to the maestro's life, works, and milleau. Hopefully, helpful to you as a resource and a jumping-off source to inform your study. It's not Bloom or even Paglia, nor does it claim to be. It's just a nice bit of help. Use it. Chew on it. Now, go read some Shakespeare.
