This book is absolutely amazing!  Jessica has taken a story I adore, kicked it up a notch and then turned it on it's head.  I love that this is a NA paranormal read.  It is like a little gift wrapped bundle of my favorite things.  Here are ten random reasons why I think this book is made of amazing topped with awesomesauce and sprinkled with spectacular:

1)  It is an "I can not put this book down and if you even think about asking me to then you should be very afraid" book.

2) There is a scene so hot in this book that I was afraid my Kindle would melt.

3) All bets are off.  Everything you thought you knew about the Fallen Star means nothing.  In a great way!

4) Laylen... oh yes, Lalen is back and oh so much better than before ;)

5) Nicholas .... I know another one name reason, but it is such a different reason then Laylen.  You need to just trust me on this one.

6) As awesome as The Fallen Star series is, you can only reread it so many times before you want to know more.  I should know. I have reread each book before the next one came out.

7) New Adult Para!!!  Yep, that is the whole reason right there.  I think this is a genre with a huge void.  We need more.

8) Jessica Sorensen wrote it.  I do not know about you, but if she wrote a self help book about the best ways to watch paint dry, I would read it.  Why?  Because everything I have read of hers is amazing and I have read it all.

9) All the things you wish had happened in The Fallen Star, but knew could not happen because it was YA are now a possibility!

1o) You do not have to know a think about the Fallen Star series to become completely and utterly sucked into this book and the world Jessica has created.

I highly recommend this book and am anxiously waiting for more books in this series. The characters seem almost real to me and the story is hot, filled with adventure, and unique.  It is the perfect blend of new adult and paranormal.  Being new adult, I highly suggest you be at least 17 plus before you read this book.

I came back to the description to see if I missed the fact that this was a kid book. Then I see that it's supposed to be the "ADULT" version of a young adult book. I think the author forgot that she was wrting an adult book. This book was painful! I made myself finish it because it wasn't free. It felt like a bad version of Twighlight. At least with that series, it took me until book 3 to get tired of Bella. I was tired of Gemma before I got to the middle of the book. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I got interested at the end and then it was over.

Usually, if I don't like a book in a series, I'll try the next one just to see if it's a fluke. I can't even do that with this one. It was that bad.

    Ok

Confusing at times too much going on for something so short. Don't like cliffhangers not sure I will be reading sequel.

I love the fallen star series, and when i saw this i was so excited! I did end up reading the whole thing, but i skipped through alot because i knew what was going on. I just wish it was more different tyen tye fallen star, all that was different was at each part in the fallen star when alex and gemma kissed, she just made them either intensilly make out, or have sex. Thats the only different parts. Even alot of the lines in this book where exactally the same as the fallen star. I just think she should have changed up the story a liitle more and i would have enjoyed it more/ give it a better rating.

    I WAS ALL OVER THIS.

I was more than all over this. I was actually hopin' for this as I read The Fallen Star. Yes plz.

So, I read this book in, like, a day. I’m not sure how big a role having already read The Fallen Star plays in that fact, but it nevertheless remains.

Right off the bat, Shattered Promises feels more powerful than the basis on which it was spun off (although, give me a break about the new name–it’s awful). It’s literally like 10 times more emotional and moving and readable than its foundations, and it actually makes a lot more sense.

I don’t like that Gemma and Laylen got almost turned into kind of a “thing” for a few scenes, but I’m hoping their relationship stays what it was in The Fallen Star, and that’s platonic–but important. I mean, Laylen is Gemma’s first real friend, and I do find that essential to the book as well as to Gemma, but keep it there. Don’t make this a love triangle. Pleasseeeee.

Other than that, I sense a lot of improvement from Sorensen. What can I say? It’s a guilty pleasure of mine that I enjoy this series. And, my God, the writing isn’t stellar, but it is light-years ahead The Fallen Star series’ writing. It’s less choppy, more evocative and believable.

Like I said, guilty pleasure. Sue me, I liked it.

Had to take some time on finding my true feeling on how to rate

Had to take some time on finding my true feeling on how to rate this book.. I give it a 3.5 only because I've read the Fallen Star Series and because of that its a 3.5.  There is a lot of repeating, slight altering events, its basically a Fallen Stars Book 1, however they are just a bit older.   Other than that however, if you havent read the Fallen Stars series then its a great start to another series.

The book started out so slow, that I almost gave up on it...thus the three stars. However, I stuck with it and two-thirds of the way into the book I was caught up in the story and couldn't put the book down. I'll definately be buying the second book in this series.

    BEWARE

First thing you need to know is that this book does not stand alone. It ends practically mid-sentence with very few questions answered and the sequel does not come out until June. Although it kept me interested, I would not have read it in the first place if I knew I could not find out the rest of the story (and that's if there isn't a 3rd book) until June. The hero is not... he is the most wishy washy character I have come across in a very long time and I was very frustrated by his inability to make a decision and stick to it. I like the heroine, but she did not ask the other characters the obvious questions that she should have. The writing was fairly good, and it kept me reading and I will pick up the next book because I have to find out what happens, but overall, I am sick and tired of getting to the end of a book that has no ending and I cannot read the next book right away. For goodness sake! We will buy the next book just don't make us wait.

    good read but confusing

Loved the characters. Book was a bit confusing at times. What happened to the female main character sucked. I was so upset with the ending. Not sure I will get the next book. Definately a book that thinks outside the box.
