truest rendition of doyle's characters...ever!
i really enjoy listening to these radio plays again and again. out of all the cds and tapes out there, i think that this series with its particular cast (john gilbert as holmes; lawrence albert as watson) captures the dynamics of doyle's characters the best. since watson became immortalized by nigel bruce in the basil rathbone movies, entirely too often we think of him as old, boring, bumbling, and silly, when that wasn't how doyle portrayed him at all. lawrence albert's watson is young, alert, sarcastically witty, and well-spoken--he's a perfect watson! holmes is well-done, too, but then again, most people agree on what he's like. Was this review helpful?
