An Engaging Historical Account
This is a well-researched and fast-paced history of the year leading up to the siege of Fort Wm. Henry on the shore of Lake George in Canada. The author provides a lot of background information on the main characters and has done his research well. The book moves well and weaves all four sides (British, French, Indians, colonists) nicely into the mix, providing detailed information on the life and times of the combatants. References are abundant, allowing for the reader to research on his own and immerse himself in the French and Indian War, should he desire. Yet the story is never bogged down by details the author provides. It is a nice blend that makes for an enjoyable read.
