so many quilts (to make), so little time
Showcasing just 20 quilts, this book contains a surprising variety of styles. Some are sophisticated, some are fun, some contemporary, some patriotic, and others suitable for a child. Few are made with the cotton most commonly used; fabrics include velvet, organza, corduroy, silk, and upholstery. The use of such fabrics, especially the more expensive ones, belie the book's subtitle, ".for the First-Time Quilter." A first-time quilter? Perhaps. But not a first-time needle worker. [Unless, as my father always used to say, she has more money than brains.] That caveat notwithstanding, this is a lovely little book. I look forward to creating my own version of some of the designs soon.
