We are finally invited into the private world/hell of Lord Minshom! This is one character I developed a curiosity for while reading the other "Simply" books. The idea of redeeming Minshom seemed impossible to me but Kate Pearce comes close by exposing Minshoms childhood and his experiences in the Little Gentlemen's Club. The connection with the Little Gentlemen's Club ties together many of the characters from the other books in the series.
This book is erotic, dark and hot....umm..HOT! If you are not into erotica this is NOT the book for you but if you are you should read the Simply series. The characters are rich and not so one dimensional as I have discovered with many books of this genre! A MUST HAVE!!! I loved it!!

HIGHLY RECOMENDED-A MUST READ!

You will hate lord Mishom at the beginning but in the end you will understand and love him. You will fall in love with this couple. This is a must read series!!!

Very HOT!

Once you read them you become hooked- very creative sex scenes which some I couldn't fathom

What an Amazing Writer! So Moving!

We all met Lord Blaize Minshom in the other Simply books and really got to hate him in Simply Wicked, but I think he was mostly redeemed in this well written book. Minshom is one of the most screwed up people I've ever read about but throughout this book he is healed quite a bit, sometimes by force, by his wife, Jane. In the past Minshom was mentally, physically,and sexually abused by his father and has become the monster everyone thinks he is. But long ago he married a very young woman to try and be a normal person but when a tragic event tore them apart they didn't see each other for ten years. Now his wife is back in his life and throwing a bag of wrenches into it. Jane wants to try to fix the past to have a future with the husband she still loves despite his attitude toward her and others around him. She blames herself for driving him away and will use any means to keep him with her. Unfortunately she had discovered her husbands secrets about his childhood and fears there will be no way to break though the barriers that keep him safe from his emotions.

**WARNING** This book is NOT for the faint-hearted. It has some extreme scenes that might offend delicate sensibilities.

I read it

I read this book and I like erotic romance, but this got a bit depraved for even me. However the story was so good, the plot was awesome.

This is an engaging Regency erotic romance

Married couple, Lady Jane and Lord Blaize Minshom, has lived separate lives for seven years. She stayed at one of their country estates rusticating; he remained in London womanizing at Madame Helene's Pleasure House.

However, Lady Jane decides the time has come to regain her marriage as she misses the sexual intimacy they once shared. On the other hand, Lord Minshom wants her to leave the city so he can continue with his depraved lifestyle that includes male sexual encounters as well as other women at the House of Pleasure. When he fails to drive her away, he sends her away. However, his bed feels tundra cold without Lady Jane in it and he rages when he watches her flirt and who knows what else with men at the House of Pleasure until she decides he is pathetic and leaves. Now he follows her to the countryside to win back his wife.

This is an engaging Regency erotic romance that runs much of the gamut's several pleasures as Kate Pierce reruns her fans to Madame Helene's Pleasure House (see Simply Wicked). Jane is terrific as a brave brazen woman who wants her spouse back although the seven year itch seems questionable. Minshom has issues that drive him to destroy loving relationships. His dark side makes the tale fresh as he seems neurotic with a relationship phobia; of which two key ones are resolved too nicely with the depth of psychological traumas. Putting that aside; readers will relish Simply Instable as the author pierces the Regency subgenre veneer with a refreshing second chance tale.

Recommend with reservation - Read it if you are reading the series!

First, let me say that I really enjoy this author's writing style. The story is engrossing and the characters developed, including glimpses into their pasts. I am not well read in the genre, so I am not sure when I say this, but this seems to be a unique storyline/series. And there are many characters throughout the book whose stories I look forward to reading!
As to the hero and heroine of this story...to me Minshom was never a true villian (see Simply Wicked). In the language of the time, he is a complete and utter "arse"...and that never really changes! Understanding his childhood, which I felt was revealed too sparsely throughout the story, did nothing to make me care about him as a character. **Be prepared for some disturbing "memories" that involve children, rape, and m/m...as well as a lot more BDSM, Dom/sub, and menage than the previous book.**
One thing I liked: the author described (in this story an others) different responses and life choices that the abused boys made in their adult lives. Although they do mostly center around the same theme, and diverge later in life, it gives depth to the stoy.
I find Jane an interesting character. She's gutsy and I actually laughed out loud at some of the things she did to irritate Minsohm! I find it difficult to understand or relate to her, though I'm not sure I can say why.
All in all, neither of the two main characters struck me as hero material. Their "growth" just didn't gel for me...it didn't feel as real and solid as much of the rest of the story or of the other stories in the series.
One thing in particular that rang particularly false, is the supremely angry, abused son returning to the side of the dying father (I really want to say more here, but I don't want to spoil the story...let's just say he had a hand in his father's health) and vowing to keep him safe. That's the last thing I can see this character doing! I can accept him returning home. I can accept him paying for the father's continued care for a decade. But I cannot accept him bowing down to the man; it would have been immensely more satisfying to read about him acknowledging even some part of his past hurts. Thus I found the end completely unsatisfying.
Surprisingly, I can say that I'm glad that Minsohm wasn't written as what I would consider a true villian. He was written human...a truly screwed up human, but not inhumane. I'm glad he let people "go," especially people that he loved, even if he couldn't admit it.
I think this would be an interesting book for clubs and conversations, assuming they can handle the dark erotic theme, of course. There is a lot to think about and talk about here!
