I read this book in 2 days. I could not put it down. The author really developed her chararcters. There were quite a bit of mystery as the story was unfolded. I really like the message of hope she gave those who may experience what her main characters experienced. The was just layer and layer of problems but at their faith prevailed and forgiveness reigned. I enjoyed it. I will be looking for the other 8 books the author wrote. I would really recommend this book if you love romance, mystery and are in need of hope.

Bargin Book reading

This is a great book to read if you are looking for an easy read and if you find it on the bargin table for under Five dollars. I enjoy the story of the Black familly but I don't believe Roby is a very creative writer.

    Really?

I read a lot of books and found this one a challenge from start to finish. Am I the only one who found the Pastor and his wife to be hypocrites, the real villains of the story? Not just adultery, but a full fledged 5-yr relationship? Charlotte having affairs and conceiving children (believed) yet being unforgiving of her husband's other woman. Lies, deceit, criminal activity, arrogance, typical stereotypical HIV panic (of all places in the church) ... and the very clean wrap-up of it all with "others" being responsible for their troubles or w/ ulterior motivations. The pastor and his wife got away w/ it all. Really? Charlotte pays a thug relative to scare a woman, a single mother, and there are NO consequences. Telling Tracy she could not be trusted, yet outright lying to the police and her husband. I like to read and listen to novels/stories that touch on reality and I just kept asking myself, "are you serious?" As an active Christian, I teach and share that we're human too, however, we are all held accountable, if not on Earth, definitely in Heaven. This could have been a great oppty to do so much more, but I see now that a little prayer does grant "miracles." And I guess we are also to believe that if we open our own church and write a few books, we can get away w/ anything. I struggled w/ the language too, far from conversational and natural. Unfortunately, I expect that from some authors of color. My first and last book by this author.

    Don't even bother

I've read two books by this author and have been only mildly satisfied, but this book.... I'll just say that I'm forcing myself to finish, only because I don't believe in buying books just to let them sit on a shelf. The story is tired, and its been done millions of times, the characters are flat, and her prose is simple, as if she is trying not to insult the reader by using "big" words (I hate using that term). As the headline reads "DON'T EVEN BOTHER." Nothing to see here folks, keep it movin'.

I Hope This Is It For Rev. Black

This had to be one of the worse books I have ever read. The only reason I finished it was because it was my reading group's read for the month and I paid $17.00 for it. Our group has read a couple of her other books, but didn't like the last Rev. Black book and this one was worse than the last. I probably won't read anything else from her unless it has outstanding reviews
