Very good.
I liked the part where they were helping the seaholders evacuate before the tsunami struck.

If you love dragons
I love this series, I've been reading the storyline for years, have actually REREAD the series more than once. Since going to ebook format I'm trying to get all of them in this format so that I can REREAD them again.

Love this series! Looks like Random House needs to edit it better!
There are about 50 pages out of order at the end! Puts a good capstone on the series, though wish she had written 1 more...

Good book with imagination.
One of the best I've read. Will read the rest of the series and all her other books because I know they will keep me entertained.

THE BEST ONE YET
of all the dragonrider books i have read this is the best. This book finishes the tale of Avias and also tells some of the reprections from the improvments Avias. This book also tells about an ability that dragons have but never used. The end is kinda sad but this is still the best one yet. a MUST READ for all dragonrider fans.

They are always the Great!
Anne McCaffrey never fails to create an excellent story and even though i havn't yet read "The Skies of Pern" I know it will be an awesome book, how could it not. Read her other books and you would see, if it's even half as good as the lot of them then its great! They are always Great!

Just as good as the other Pern books
The skies of pern is at least as good as the earlier pern books. Lessa and F'lar and most of the other characters were still there, but also some new young people with different ideas. More than in the other pern books, there were a lot of vivid descriptions of disasters. Reading about the dragons attempting to control their new abilities is nothing short of hilarious. Although i'm not sure this is the best of the Pern series, it is certainly not the weakest!

moving
haha maybe its just me, but i found this one to be very different from her other Dragonriders books, as well as very moving. It was so odd reading about Lessa and F'lar as having aged, and I was very impressed with her eradication of Thread. She came up with a very interesting conflict to replace Thread. All in all, though it was not as good as her other Pern books, I thought that The Skies of Pern was very good. I hope it is not her last!

One of the all time greats
The original Dragonriders trilogy was the first hardcover book I ever bought for myself. The was more than 20 years ago, I still have it, and I still can't wait to read the next one. No Dragonriders book I have ever read has disappointed me. I value every one of them and this new one is no exception.

An excellent read
Anne McAffrey's work never fails to keep me spellbound for hours at a time. This book might not have been quite as good as most of the other Pern novels, but it was still excellent.

Anne McCaffrey does it again!
I have just finished the eBook version of The Skies of Pern and all I can say is awesome. Dragonflight and Dragonquest were two of the first scifi books that I read 15 years ago. The Dragonlady of Pern has kept the series fresh and intresting all these years. I look foward to reading more from this great author.

It could have been better.
I have read almost every book she has written and this one did not live up to her other books. It felt like she was rushing and she did not develop her charecters like she usually does. I was disapointed and I think maybe it is time to end the Pern series.

Good, but could have been better!
I love everything Pern, and while this story was good, it wasn't as good as it's predecessors. The plot was good, but I felt it was a bit rushed, and I had a little trouble following it at times. I also felt the characters didn't have the depth they usually do. Still a good read, but it could have been a great read.

growing up with dragons
My mother started reading me her books when I was young. I'm 29 years old and I still get excited when one of her books are released. Her writing takes you to a whole other place.

Another Winner
Another fantastic enstallment of the Dragonrider books. This one answers some of those questions that her fans have. What are the Dragon riders to do now they stopped Thread from falling? The answer will suprise and at the same time is the logical conclusion, especially considering the dragon's newly discovered ability! One for all the fans of surpassing excellance in SF.

Great SF
It has been two years since AIVAS (artificial intelligence voice address system) shut himself down, but Many remain grateful for the knowledge, tools, and technology AIVAS provided them such as paper, print, and medical treatment.
Not everyone is pleased with the changes AIVAS brought about for the Pernese society. The Abominators believe AIVAS was the devil and society needs to return to the pre-AIVAS days. They believe in the use of force to enforce their beliefs. As Weyr, holder, and craft unite to battle the Abominators, F¿Lessan, the son of Lessa and F¿lar, seeks a way to make the dragonriders remain important to Pern long after the thread threat leaves.
Three years have passed since a Pern book was published, but readers will know that THE SKIES OF PERN was worth the wait. Once again the mistress of science fiction, Anne McCaffrey has crafted a novel about a world that many genre fans love. The evolution of society serves as the underlying theme to a story line rich with tradition, strong characterizations, and a powerful plot that will excite fans into demanding the next novel come out much faster.
