Angelique is determined to keep him safe, Connor is determined to win her back but their secrets threaten to keep them apart and hidden enemies seek to destroy their love forever in this edgy and thrilling paranormal romance.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers hovering on the edge of anticipation with suspense, drama, action and romance.  The well written scenes and details inspire vivid images that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated suspense and drama draw the reader deeper into the story.  The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the action scenes and a thrilling edge of danger and excitement.
There is no mistaking the heart that flares between Angel and Connor, but they both have secrets that they can’t reveal but fighting isn’t getting them anywhere because their attraction is too intense and leads to some hot and steamy sex.
The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as the drama of their courtship unfolds.  Connor has been given an ultimatum find his mate or take the one that’s chomping at the bits to have him and Angel believes that her panther is a danger to Connor, but before the two can begin to really work on their problems, hidden enemies come calling making thinks real intense.
The story is edgy thrilling and has some very interesting elements that arouse curiosity and ensure that the reader wants to know more.  While it is a short tease, it is a fascinating introduction to the Feral Ink series that never has a dull moment and I can’t wait to read more Angel and Connor and find out what happens next.

I loved this oh so cute story. It covered such a unique and different world. Sarah's uniquely takes you into a hidden world where not only shifters take forms. This world of inked animals gives you a hope for those stuck as humans. The bond she explores between The two lead characters and the lead characters ink shows a world of depth and affection. The pain and sorrow of not having ones heart felt love is explored as well as the notion of giving up ones love for their protection or to keep them from suffering from ones own imperfections can be turned into any life today. I love how while it is in the paranormal realm it does follow with the action of jealousy and ex's. Wonderful read. Would recommend to anyone looking for a touching and quite amazing read.

This was a pretty well done story.  There’s mystery, danger, and of course love, all in a novella package.  The plot was interesting, though a little weak in some places for me, with strong conflicts and compelling emotional ties between the main characters.  After how bad things got, I think everything was wrapped up a little too easily, and I would have liked a little more in the way of world building.  We get enough to understand the context of the situation and the state of the characters, but I wanted more background into the hunters that Angelique references often and the nature of her magic and familiar and such.

Ultimately I enjoyed the story and felt for the heroine when things got dire.  I also enjoyed the love scene, feeling it was spontaneous, lustful, and oddly romantic.  Connor was truthfully a sweet guy and I felt bad that Angelique had to keep pushing him away.  I suppose my only real problem was that I thought the book would have benefitted from more length.

Overall, Skin Deep is sexy, exciting, and intriguing.  It was a quick and engrossing read that will leave you wanting more.

Fast Paced With Exciting Action In and Out of the Bedroom

A lot goes on between the pages of this short story as two otherworldly creatures, whose secrets tore them apart before, reunite while others try to keep them apart in a bloody and action-packed series of events that leads to an all out frenzied conclusion. Angelique comes from an ancient group who carry their Familiars on their skin and who have struggled to keep their secrets after being hunted to near extinction. These secrets led her to abandon the love of her life but after a year apart he's back. Connor has secrets of his own as he's a werewolf who's been commanded to find a Mate which leads him back to Angelique, the only woman he wants. Both of them were kept apart because of secrets and fears that the other wouldn't accept them for their uniqueness. These secrets have put them both in jeopardy though as Connor's crazy ex-girlfriend unleashes a Hunter to permanently get rid of Angelique which puts Connor in danger as he has to fight to save her.
The sexual tension between Angelique and Connor is palpable with their two sexual interludes being super steamy. In comparison, the action scenes are heartpounding and keep you on the edge of your seat. This brief glimpse into this world is intriguing and the journey from a couple's rocky start to their HEA keeps you eagerly turning the pages as a series of life or death situations arise.
From its likable characters to steamy and satisfying sexual interludes this was a story easy to immerse yourself in. Though the crazy ex-girlfriend was stereotypical she still put into play a series of frenetic events that brought the h/h together. This small package showed of Ms. Makela's pleasant writing style and I'm definitely looking forward to her work in longer form.
