    green lights

Stunningly funny and complex. No red or yellow lights ahead. This collection of stories reads almost like two novels packed tightly and wonderfully into a single thin volume.

LaValle's book deserves all the praise it had been given and more. I've literally read it three times already. I'm lost in his world and can't imagine how he pulled in so perfectly and totally. Glorious.

    amazing

This is an amazing collection that wraps its arms around your entire being, allowing entry into a world we know exists but can't quite grasp. The collection is a mixture of states and emotions central to growing up and living in a world brighted by hopes crisscrossed by chain-link boundaries.

    one chance

I've been biased by this guy already. I saw him in Brooklyn, NY one night and he's the best reader alive. And he's too damn young to have earned it, but still. I bought the book and it's really pretty terrific and when you hear him, it's a damn song.
