    Jennifer Wardrip - Personal Read

I, for one, love the Bishop/FBI SCU stories, and thought this book was an excellent addition to the series.

Riley Crane wakes up in bed at her rental cottage in Opal Island, only to realize she's covered in dried blood and has no memories of the last three weeks. Apparently, she was on the island to investigate supposed black magic/occult activities while claiming she was on vacation--but she has no recollection of that fact. She also doesn't remember that she's become romantically involved with Ash Prescott, Hazard County District Attorney.

Bishop and the rest of his agents are spread thinly across the United States working on their own investigations, so Riley is on her own, without a partner or any back-up. As situations turn deadly and a body is found tortured and mutilated in a small woods, Riley knows that she must uncover what has been happening to her the last three weeks, and uncover it quickly.

As her mind plays tricks on her, even leading to blackouts where she loses hours of her day (besides the very important memories she's already lost), Riley knows that something evil is happening on Opal Island. It is up to her, and her blind trust in Ash, to figure out what that evil is, and stop it before it ends up killing her.

SLEEPING WITH FEAR is an excellent addition to the SCU series, and I, for one, am glad I picked up a copy of the book. I can't wait to see what Ms. Hooper has in store for Bishop and his team next.

    Hooper Continues the Magic

I'm actually quite surprised over the negative comments SLEEPING WITH FEAR has garnered. I, for one, love the Bishop/FBI SCU stories, and thought this book was an excellent addition to the series. Fantastic-A 6 rating

Riley Crane, a member of the Special Crimes Unit made up of psychics, is sent to Opal Island to investigate occult symbols turning up on buildings. She wakes up one morning to find she has no memory of the last three weeks and her psychic powers are gone. A short distance away, a body of a man is found hanging from a rope without a head. The sheriff calls Riley to the crime scene hoping as a FBI agent she can help him out.----------- She discovers that an occult ceremony has taken place in the area and she meets Ash who she instinctively knows is her lover. Ash discovers a scar on Riley that is the result of a taser. Someone was able to get past her guards and use it on her she theorizes that a person performed black-occult activities using the energies released to keep Riley in a psychically weakened state. If she finds the person who attacked her, she will find the killer but even using Ash as a lifeline may be enough to ensure victory over her unknown enemy.----------------- SLEEPING WITH FEAR is different than any of the other Noah Bishop/Special Crimes unit novels because in this work the heroine loses her psychic powers and must use ordinary methods to conduct an investigation. Kay Hooper has the magic touch when it comes to writing paranormal thrillers leaving fans always eagerly awaiting her next masterpiece. It is a sure bet this novel will be on all the best seller lists. ----------- Harriet Klausner

    Sleeping with Fear

My 2 friends loved this book. They thought it was very good, gave it a 5 star rating and insisted I read it. Well I did, but I never finished it. This wasn't a book for me. It didn't hold my interest at all. The characters, the plot there was nothing to hold me. I finally skipped to the end so I could be done with this book.

This is the second Bishop/special Crimes Unit Novel and I enjoyed both. This one keeps you guessing. I almost always figure out 'who done it' in the first or second chapters if that far.....this one kept me guessing up to 1/2 way through good job!

    Disappointed

This is the first time that I reviewed a book on line and felt that I had to write this one. I discovered Kay Hooper's books this summer and am really hooked. Good thing I didn't read 'Sleeping With Fear' first, I wouldn't have selected any more of her books to read. Had to force myself to finish this book, it was really disappointing. I've started 'Finding Laura' and was hooked on this one by page 10. Don't know what happened to 'Sleeping With Fear.'

Not as good as the others

I waited for this book and could not put it down. Imagine my suprise when she got to the end of the story and fizzled. She didn't tie it up well and left a few unanswered questions. I give it better that okay, but just shy recommended. I agree that this was not one of her better efforts.

    Not Kay Hoopers best,,,,

the book begins as Riley Crane, a clairvoyant FBI agent, is brought to Opal Island to investigate possible Satanic rituals. She discovers that she will black out for hours on end and have no clue what is happening in her life and who people are that seem to know her. The whole book is foggy, hard to follow, changes chapters in mid sentence because Riley loses her memory again and they jump from memories of her past to current conversations she had with her boyfriend Ash...hard to follow and I lost patience with it eventually skipping to the ending just to see who dunnit...dont bother buying this book-check out at the library if you think you would enjoy.
